Miku and Saiki flew to NYC to work with producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie & T Rex) to recored the vocals. In January interviews in Japan they said Visconti was very nice to them and they enjoyed NYC. Saiki said one difference was that when changes were made to the song, they sang the entire song again vs just doing the changed part as in Japan. She also said Visconti before making a change he would ask if they thought it would okay with Kanami. Akene, Kanami, and MISA flew in later for their 2 NYC concerts which Visconti attended. This song gets better every time I hear it. Hope they work with him again. I would love to have been there for their entire visit especially when Visconti met Kanami!!

Yep!!! Stumbled across my first Band Maid video 4 days ago. I ... can ....not ... get ... enough. Soaking up all their videos. Simply amazing. Their talent is incredible. Their songs are mesmerizing. And they rock harder than just about everybody at the moment. I sincerely hope they do a US tour - SOON! I have already ordered several of their studio albums. This group is LEGIT!
@m.a74734 жыл бұрын
This is what I gathered from multiple interviews. The lyrics of this song was written by Thomas Kenney who introduced Band Maid to Tony Visconti. Tony got interested and offered them to produce a song. Miku thought somebody was trying to con them but just in case sent a demo to Tony anyway, and Tony replied, ‘Lets do it’ so they recorded the instrument parts in Japan, then Saiki and Miku flew to NY to record vocal parts with Tony. Result is this song. According to Miku’s account, Tony was very nice to girls to the point they felt they were visiting relatives’ grandfather. Tony apparently thrifted a lot of pre-recorded sound tracks to the point he had to ask Miku if Kanami would be mad at him. Miku told Tony ‘there would be absolutely no problem.” Kanami later stated although melody was changed, core of her music was left totally untouched and she felt she got a seal of approval from the world top level producer. Tony later visited their live shows in NY, both shows, just like any grandpa would do.

@@RobinC63 one important fact. No one seems to know who Thomas Kenny is. He is not listed on ASCAP or any other listing of professional singer / singwriters. He belongs to no Union or any other musicians' representative organization and no one can produce a photo of this guy. None of this means he doesn't exist it just means he can't be found anywhere. He would literally have to be just a regular guy off the street who can't be tracked down and who just happened to write a song Band-Maid approved of. Also Tony Visconti has used pseudonyms on previous songs produced like listing John Lennon as Winston O'boogey on the Bowie tune Fame. Would be nice if someone could definitively find Mr. Kenny.
@m.a74734 жыл бұрын
@@sacluvsBM You are right. the only reference to Thomas Kenny that I could find was in Tony Visconti's own Facebook page when he talked about "Conqueror" album release sometime in November, as "My good Friend". Then Miku and Saiki mentioned Tom-san and Tony-san were both present at the time of the recording. So I was assuming he must be real.

Thanks to you reacting to this band, I am now into Band-Maid. These gals bring it big time. Recently, I found another all-female Japanese metal band called Lovebites. You can hear they are heavily influenced by old school metal and power metal. The first song I heard by them is The Crusade - Battle In the East live. It's got an Iron Maiden vibe going on. I think you will get into them as much as Band-Maid.

As they said in recent interview, this is the slowest BAND-MAID song ever. they also say like "We couldn't do this slow song untill now. We've grown". If you sing or play any instrument, you know that just playing slow is easy, but playing slow song good is not easy.

As a few others have said on here, your next band from Japan to check out should be Lovebites. The song that amazed me was Edge of the World- Battle in the East Live. The song starts off slow then kicks up the tempo, similar to the pace of Nightwish-Ghost Love Score.
