This MWZ situation reminds me the age old question of whether to change a large portion of the game to get new players at the risk of losing many or stay in the old tradition to keep the old guards around but posing a significant barrier of entry to new comers. It is very rare to see level headed discussion on this, so kudos to both parties. On one hand, a failure in adaptation might lose the old audience without capturing a significant amount of old ones. On the other hand, keeping the old tradition might lead to the road of arena shooters, as the old guards die out the audience gets smaller and smaller with passing time.

id rather it keep its old audience and very slowly but eventually die out while at least its identity is still intact. imo its too late for that because mwz is the living embodiment of identity crisis. if anyone likes mwz chances are that its someone who never even liked zombies and probably prefer warzone and dmz because honestly if you ask me mwz isnt even zombies and just because they put literal zombies in it still doesn’t make it cod zombies

They can have the budget to make 3 round based maps AND a dmz mode in one game. But activision realises that they'll have retar*s arguing over if we should have rb or dmz lmfao. @MrSoldierpants Golden days when there was actual innovation? Creativitiy? New ideas? Just look at how many iconic things there are in the old cods. Each one from bo1 to mw2 to bo2 had so much to them with some of the best campaigns we've ever had, best zombies experiences, and best multiplayer experiences. What do we have now? Warzone map with zombies placed on it? Warzone with campaign slapped on it? Multiplayer using maps made 20 years ago because they're incompetent at making anything new and intriguing. It's no wonder why people want the same 3 old maps back, it's cus these devs are garbage at their job ( well truthfully speaking it's activision realising they don't need to give any development time to their studios since they know everyone is gon buy their dogshit anyways). But hey, it is what it is. The last cod game I bought was cod ww2, so it's not like I gotta worry bout a bunch of slop eaters playing their yearly garbage. I should probably worry for when the day comes that all these consoomers leave COD and go to infest other beloved franchises with their blind consumerism

a point on the time limit that I feel wasn't touched on is how it's essentially another form of manufactured incentivization that the game throws at you. Because Milo basically hit the nail on the head; without it everything you're doing in a match basically means nothing. If you could just sit in one match the whole time, learn the whole mode from match one and just farm everything out in one long sitting, you now no longer have a reason to come back and do it again. "Why would I go through to tier 3 if I already did it?". The timer forces you to actually choose what you want to do in a match, which again means nothing if all you're doing is the same contract missions over and over again. Honestly, the whole mode this year just lacks any sort of soul

I know, essayist in the comments. But thinking about it, this is kind of why Gorod Krovi is silently the greatest zombies map of all time. Cause yes, it's hard as all hell. However, it's arguably the only map we've seen that has perfectly blended the traditional zombies ideas with the ideas of "contract/exfil zombies". In the map you have the traditional wave gameplay that zombies is known for. But once you start doing the easter egg, there comes a point to when it basically becomes a contract mode due to the trophies

They all make their new games to have people endlessly buying MTX and trying to artificially increase playtime. Zombies is dead now. Not because of activision, but because of the masses buying these games.

@@MrFanservice eh, people will realise soon the mode has nothing fun to offer. You need to realise these people spend $90 CAD on this garbage. They'll do anything to defend it and convince people they're having fun. And activision tries to reinforce the players purchase by giving them weapon levels for playing the mode so you feel like there's a sense of progression playing the mode when it's all just artificial progression. But yeah the games aren't made for us anymore mate, it's meant for idiots who will consume any product no matter how bad it is. Once you realise that, it's time to just move on from the series as a whole 👍.

I think something nobody talks about is the art direction of the zombies themselves. Like the zombies and bosses look different. About 400 ish years passed in the dank aether and it kinda shows especially with manglers and deciples. Manglers had to improve and repair their armor with modern looking ones to keep up. And deciples got a complete visual overhaul. Mimics and abominations tho remain mostly unchanged. But I like the art direction of spores and gore, and warm orange and red color tones and whatnot. It's sick

you know, with this convo about the issue with difficulty in the tier system. i had this thought that it would be kinda cool for the tier zones to grow over time so that while tier 3 is only the middle part when you spawn in, by the time the timer runs out, the entire map is tier 3.

You can take weapons upgrades out if you go to tiwr 3 grave and sacrifice you weapon. Then you get upgrade for the next game
