Here's my story. Took it for 2.5 years (2.5mg daily) with no issues. Out of nowhere, I was hospitalized with near kidney failure due to fluid retention around my heart that prevented proper blood flow to my organs and essentially almost cut off circulation to my kidneys. My kidney markers in my blood work were reaching kidney failure levels. I stopped OM when I was admitted obviously and I went back to normal in 3 days. I couldn't believe it happened after not having any issues with OM for over 2 years. Months after my hospital stint, I tried OM again at 1.25 mg, but the second I had a weird heart rhythm I stopped it again. It just isn't worth the risk for me unfortunately.

# the slaphead curse has been defeated ! On peu passer à autre chose ! Toujours curieux à propos de GT20029 etc... donc j'irais faire un tour sur le net de temps en temps mais pas beaucoup plus que ça. Small but important update : I developed nerves damages with oral minoxidil 2.5mg after 3 weeks of use. The first 2 weeks were fine but the third week became hell on earth... I noticed massive tingling in both my arms from my elbows to the tips of my fingers as well as in both my legs with slight numbing feelings ... And some small pain in all my joints ... Crazy stuff. I later read that this is a side effect of oral minoxidil (it's not nocebo as i was not even aware of this side effect). Of course i immediately stopped oral minoxidil and i still have the tinglings etc.. but it's getting slowly better thankfully. After some research on the subject i learnt that they were some cases of permanent nerves damages and someone even ended up in hospital and couldn't walk anymore ... My goal here is absolutely not to fear mongering but just to inform people that if you are on OM and you feel like tingling in your hands or elsewhere that last for more than a few hours a day : stop immediately OM !!! This is a sign of nerves damage. I wish i didn't have to drop OM and didn't have to go back on topical minoxidil but here i am... it's life... If your hair is at the stage where it'd stranslucent and doesn't grow long, that's about it. You might be able with variety of treatments to make them grow longer by extending anagen phase, but that won't be a long term solution as witch each cycle they get shorter and shorter. I find my self having more side effects from oral minoxidil than from Finasteride altogether, the only minoxidil i tolerate is topical at only 2%, even the 5% one gives me terrible sides, insomnia, irregular heart beat, erectile dysfunction, less pumps at the gym, lethargy and so on. Terrible drug for my system, i guess i am simply over responder since with the 2% i get to keep all my hair, only take Finasteride twice per week
@MrRolandasАй бұрын
Technically it's a good thing. The objective is always to try and take whathever you need to keep your hair at smallest possible dosages. That's a win in my books if you got to keep your hair!

I dont really have a story with Oral minoxidil yet lol. I was on topical M but it was just such a hassle to do every day and I didn't like the residue it left in my hair. I've been on 1.25MG Oral minoxidil for ab a week now with seemingly no side effects. I can see all the baby hairs coming in though so I got no intention of going beyond 1.25MG.
@MrRolandasАй бұрын
According to studies, after first week you are mostly clear from serious sides. But also this is a very low dose.

Dutasteride master race at 0.5mg per day here. I was also using topical minoxidil before but i will have a cat soon so i decided to get on oral minoxidil. So I've been on oral minoxidil for 2 weeks (first week on 5mg but had some side effects). Then i switched to 2.5mg a day and i have no side effect anymore. I will therefore keep going on with 2.5mg oral minoxidil as well as 0.5mg dutasteride. From the studies, 5mg oral minoxidil has about 20% of side effects when 2.5mg has about 4.8% of side effects. So when you double the dose from 2.5 to 5mg you get 4 times the risk to get problems.... 🤔 Not worth it imo !!! 2.5mg seems to be the sweet spot for men (effective enough while having a good side effects profil). 👍 . 5mg is more of a risk... i respect it but i won't push myself toward it.
@MrRolandasАй бұрын
I'm right there with you on all of it. Good for you to get on dut everyday. 🐐
@exactly1176Ай бұрын
@@MrRolandasyes I saw no difference In terms of side effects between finasteride and dutasteride (aside from better hair growth with dutasteride) . The side effects profil is about the same for both drugs unlike what most people think. Dutasteride is a better choice for an " upgrade " than upgrading from 2.5mg OM to 5mg OM in my opinion. More safe to just upgrade to dutasteride for aggressive hairloss cases
@MrRolandasАй бұрын
Yeah that's a good statement between upgrades. I'll probably jump on dut at some point in the future

10 mg daily!!! Started at 2.5 mg daily and titrated up to 5mg daily and then eventually 10mg daily. 5mg morning and 5mg evening with 12 hr break in between doses. I think you know who I am talking about. No negative side effects whatsoever!!! Don’t listen to Dr KZbinrs and all the scare tactics.

Even a slight increase in your heart rate is associated with earlier mortality. Never mind the other risks. Dermatologists have no business prescribing a hypertension drug that directly impacts the heart.
@exactly1176Ай бұрын
" even a slight increase in your heart rate is associated with earlier mortality " . Yes and no. It's not that simple actually. Caffeine for example does slightly increase your hear rate but it's known to prevent (reduce the risks) of cardiovascular disease long term (as long as you don't drink too much tea or coffee or course . It depends on the dose. The same goes with oral minoxidil. It could actually be beneficial for your heart as long as the dose is very low and you tolerate it well. When you do exercise your heart rate increased by a lot (temporarily) and then decrease etc... 2.5 oral minoxidil doesn't really impact the cardiovascular system according to studies but 5mg does have an impact. Again : the dose does the poison . Coffee is good or bad for your heart depending on how much coffee you drink. Again : it's not that simple. Edit : but I agree with you about dermatologists prescribing oral minoxidil like candies ... that's not good. Especially 5mg... (4 times higher side effects profil compared to 2.5mg according to literature). 2.5mg is quite safe and could prevent hypertension problems long term however.
@MrRolandasАй бұрын
I've showed my heart rate back in 2019, it was 72 while recently it was 71 around same time of the day. So no real change.
@exactly1176Ай бұрын
@MrRolandas that's very interesting cause it confirms the literature around the dose of 2.5mg oral minoxidil. This dose doesn't change the heart rate on most people anyway. It's starting to change from 5mg a day according to the literature. Once again the OM 2.5mg seems to be the sweet spot for men. Effective enough while having a very good side effects profil.
