I've heard or read this wonderful story many times. Mr Crowest's rendition is absolutely top drawer & illuminated the skillful words in all their glory. Always one of my faves.

It's women like Amworth that give we widows a bad name. Not all of us are vampires, after all. [wink] It does seem a pity, though, that the one person who brought some life into that sleepy little town was undead. And is it just me or does her name seem very fitting: Amworth -- a.m. worth - as though she were indeed redeemed in the morning.

Of maybe it's her personal opinion that she's the only woman in the vicinity really worth having? 🧛♀️

Who would have thought a vampire story would hold one with such suspense! brilliant. I don't why your readings are so entrancing, but they are. . . can't wait til the next one! :) *** ***. just a note to you. another reader (BitesizedAudio) had a whole lot of trouble with his readings from YT, even though it was he who was reading, they claimed plagiarism and wouldn't let up. we told him to get In touch with HorrorBabble, alias Ian, or listen to his videos (and I mentioned to also check out Edward French). It turns out that if you have a short introduction about the author and/or something about the story, like when it published and where, that makes it ok, and you can read your stories without a problem. nobody knows why this makes a difference!!?? 🙄 Hope this will help, if they ever accuse you of plagiarism. :) 🌺

I also listen to Simon on bitesized audiobooks and was well aware of KZbins treatment of him, totally unfair altogether. I think he now has the situation resolved, thank goodness.... this reading of another wonderful classic is top notch too alongside his. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Thank you Mr Crowest for this. Glad you're back. You are without a doubt the best reader/teller of tales/narrator I've ever heard on youtube. And with Ed French, classic ghost stories Tony Walker, Huw Carr Black Dog Chronicles, and encrypted horror Jasper L'estrange on youtube that's saying something in my book. Please keep them coming. I love these stories.

Though a vampire I liked Mrs. Amworth, and indeed find myself half rooting for her whenever I hear the tale of her discovery and eventual destruction. The narrator and his neighbor seem stodgy and humorless to me by comparison, and I think I would like the story better had someone mourned the vibrant person she/it had been, regardless of species..
