I believe in the 70’s people didn’t know as well as we did. That’s why you always see scenes in old disaster movie of people rushing onto elevators until they breakdown from the disaster

from day one Mr. Lucas's remarks towards Mrs. Slocombe were neither funny, nor cleverly written.....the PBS Stations in the U.S. spent more time--during their annual Fund Drives, forced into being apologetic for his character....many here, often wondered just 'WTH 'SOME' Execs in the BBC at that time were thinking....(too much an old boys' club, eh?)
