I think SM entertainment is one of them who leads to produce "futuristic", "All over the place" songs. Honestly, I can only think of SM when it comes to that type of Kpop. They're already famous for mixing up two songs in one and for example, NCT 127's (SM's boy group) latest single "Sticker" is also very neo and kinda hard to take in at the first time. But I think experiencing with music and not following the conventional way of music style is radical in a good way. I even think that those experiments that SM and other people did for more than a decade actually paved the way for innovation and for the ones who are enthusiastically working in this field.

They have been over the place since 2010. With f(x) music they literrally reset the whole kpop industry, follow with RV, NCT and now aespa. SNSD and EXO during that same time consider less experienmental, except for some song like I got a boy, Tempo etc. But for f(x), their whole carrer is experimental music.

I think starting in 2019 or maybe 2020 SM shared in an investor meeting that they're launching the SMCU (SM culture universe? i think?) esp with aespa but I know it's interconnected with the songs, lyrics, and music videos of NCT and EXO and Shinee. Which is why we hear words like kwangya, synk, etc. in all of their songs. I totally love how ambitious they are and how interesting the interconnected storylines are but I feel like it's confusing to new fans or non-fans that might want to get into the groups but don't understand that it's an entire universe with interweaving storylines and tons of content you have to catch up on hahaha - even on a few of the bigger kpop channel reactions to savage I've watched (like this one and aaron freeman) I don't see them or anyone in the comment section mention SMCU at all

I love what SM does with their groups, like connect their musical styles in a way. Like Super Junior with Girls' Generation SHINee with f(x) EXO with Red Velvet EXO and NCT with SuperM aespa with NCT As we all know nct are the kings of making experimental music, especially nct 127 (songs that make you go 'wth?' at first listen but end up growing on you a lot) . Some examples are sticker, hot sauce and simon says. I feel so happy that sm is giving them this kind of style (i am not comparing anyone i love both groups!!) and I really love to see aespa pulling this off so well! I absolutely loved this at first listen and the album is also no skip! Even the outfits (the pink outfits look like cherry bomb outfits) and also the lyrics (Punch, Gimme gimme). Only sm artist tingz hehe
