Sam, i remember when i was still in highschool, whenever i entered Jollibee they would have boxes ready near the counter and writing stations for anyone who wanted to tell their story. Usually it was around major holidays such a christmas or occasions like valentine's or mother's/father's day. No one knew then that they would turn it into short films/commercials. Its one of the best things to have appeared on tv. Both nostalgic and perfectly encapsulating Filipino culture 🧡

The thing is… even without these adverts, Jollibee will never not be our number fast food restaurant. Jollibee is ingrained in the Filipino culture. But the adverts are enjoyable because they showcase our lives. They’re relatable and they evoke our sense of community. I think the 2nd video was the one that made me cry the most when I watched them. Losing a father and having to make events special for my mom and sister was really hard.

The majority of the celebrations take place at Jollibee; they are a part of our lives, childhood, traditions, and so on. The stories are based on true events because Jollibee has been a part of their story, whether they met, celebrated, or ate their lunches there, Jollibee is in the center of it all. Every commercial is a separate story; some, but not all, have sequels like Vow & Date (let us know if you want the Part 2 for those two commercials). Some are happy, sad, inspiring, motivating, and so on, but at the end of the day, practically all Filipinos have a tale/story to tell about what happened at Jollibee (like I said Jollibee is engrained in our culture & a huge part of our lives), and these stories are the most inspiring anecdotes that were turned into commercials. And yes, the cinematography is impressive, not your average commercial, it is a story of someone after all so it has to be extra special.

It’s not just Jollibee (altho their team really does have one of the more excellent storytelling) but a couple other brands. We even have a series of advertisements for a detergent that I kid you not, ran for 17 years.

Yes these full adverts are like the premier showing for a certain holidays like Valentines Day. But on the everyday ad slots only the highlights were being shown. Jollibee is like our local Mcdo sometimes their stores are in the same area especially in the university belt. I was a victim of "Date" it just hit me and before you know it you are tearing up with a heavy feeling.

Jollibee is like our national fast food. Its beginnings were a representation of poor Filipino households that cooked food with whatever they got in the kitchen at the moment without having the liberty to buy more ingredients. With the minimal things they can find, they end up cooking great tasting food as a result. Jollibee commercials has always promoted in themes of "whatever your Filipino life story is, we're with you on that journey". So it's a solid and important part of our culture now. The commercials you saw were special commercials with the Valentines theme. February 14th. I'm sure one will be made again next year around that time. What's funny to me is that after you watched the first 3 ads, it made you expect that Jollibee will hurt you again on the 4th commercial; but found that it was a happy ending. It's so relatable, that's how we felt too that time. Haha. Thanks for diving into parts of our culture.

I enjoyed watching you and appreciating the twist brought by Jollibee commercials. They used to have contest and whose story wins will be created as commercial, the contestant gets to win cash. Jollibee is a shortcut for JOLLY BEE the brand encourages to be a happy person despite the poverty here in this country it's one of those core values of Filipinos to still be grateful and see things on a positive side.
