WWE really botched up Cena's Wrestlemania career, yet it's crazy that he's still top 5 of all time. WWE did not have a Cena vs Orton at WM, did not have a Cena vs Taker at their peak, did not have a Cena vs Edge (shoved Big Show in to make it a triple threat), so many missed chances.

I’m gonna defend the crowd for the Randy vs Aj match cause I attended that show. Even if the match wasn’t the hottest, the reason for the crowd not reacting was cause a majority of the crowd couldn’t even see the match lmao. There was a light glaring in so many peoples faces during the match. It was so bad that even Randy had to apologize on social media after the match!

The sad part about all of this is that Randy just never really hit the spot with the best mania matches. Either they were in bad timing(vs Triple H Mania 25 which also should've been a no dq match) or just never clicked for another reason. Personally, his best three Mania matches are against Kane Mania 28(a good match and highly underrated imo), Mania 31 against Seth Rollins, vs Taker Mania 21, that Mania 30 main event, and Mania 24 against Cena and Hunter(Triple H). Now he wants a World Title match against Cena at a future Mania main event and I think that is deserved and would be awesome and could be both their best mania match. But Randy is one of those guys who really doesn't need a super good mania match to be considered the goat or a goat in the business.

Orton costed Punk the WHC back at Unforgiven 2008. Punk came back to get his payback costing Orton the WWE Title at Royal Rumble 2011. Which led to their Mania match. Great build, long term story telling. Not sure you quite remember considering you said it lacked build? Just thought I’d leave the comment to let you know.

The build up to the WM25 match was soo good, even me and my friend used to discuss it on the way back from school, that how Triple H busted into Orton's house and threw him on the wall and then out of the window and on the episode of raw Randy Orton kisses Stephanie while HHH is handcuffed to the corner. The reason why triple h was in that Mania match , was because Cena decided to challenge Orton at no way out instead in WrestleMania. It lead to the storyline that Cena shouldn't face Orton at mania . And If I remember correctly HHH won the number 1 contender match . I don't totally remember it , but it was almost something like this .

Yea in 2012 Randy didn’t win a single title. He had the WWE Championship in 2009 and didn’t get it back until 2013 and he last held a title in 2011 and didn’t hold one until 2013. 2012 he only main evented one pay per view and that was the Royal rumble. I would like to see Randy go to raw and be involved in the ic title seen and give him another run with it.

If you turn Jey heel, he would either have to immediately turn face again to feud with Jimmy, or Jimmy would turn face to feud with a heel Jey, but that story wouldn’t make nearly as much sense as Jimmy remaining heel and feuding with a babyface Jey. I think it’s far more likely that Orton returns as a face for the big pop, then turns heel and feuds with either Cody or Jey for Royal Rumble. And besides, heel Orton is just the superior version, in my opinion and probably the majority’s opinion as well.

My Top 10 would be: 1- Randy Orton vs Batista vs Daniel Bryan. It did take the crowd a while to get into this as they were still trying to digest the end of the streak, but all 3 played their parts perfectly. 2- Randy Orton vs Undertaker WM 21. Still stands as one of the best Streak matches. Would’ve been the show stealer at most Manias but unfortunately for both it was on the same card as HBK vs Angle (honourable mention for the inaugural MITB too). 3- Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins WM 31. Expected nothing short of a classic from these two and they didn’t disappoint. Still the all time best RKO for me. 4- Kurt Angle vs Rey Mystereo vs Randy Orton. Could so easily be N01 had they not been done a grave injustice with time allowance. Still a banger though and unbelievable they still squeezed so many great spots in on such ample time. 5- MITB WM23. Thought they should’ve done Orton vs Edge in a 1v1 this year to be honest. Another banger of a MITB with a great RKO sequence and a super RKO reserved for Punk from near the top. Wouldn’t be his last… 6- Randy Orton vs CM Punk WM 27. 2nd best bout of a mostly underwhelming Wrestlemania but an underrated gem of timing and a great sell job by Orton of the kayfabe injured leg. Another great RKO too. 7- Randy Orton vs Triple H vs John Cena WM 24. Probably viewed as weaker than it actually is as it was part of one of the all time great Wrestlemanias and it was at a stretch the 5th best match of the night. Still I thought it was a solid effort with a great shock factor of Orton retaining- barely anybody saw that result coming. 8- Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair vs Rock + Sock Connection WM 20. Strong tag team action with everyone getting some meaningful spots in and a good example of the veterans giving an up and comer a meaningful win and as stated helped set up perhaps the most important/meaningful feud of Orton’s career. 9- Randy Orton vs AJ Styles WM 35. Good, perhaps the stage lights mishap not withstanding very good match, but with these two on the grandest stage of them all given reasonable time too, nothing short of a classic wouldn’t leave fans feeling short changed. Underwhelming Wrestlemania matches have been a recurring theme for AJ Styles unfortunately and here is another example. The two did have a noticeably better 1v1 in early 2017 on Raw too so we already knew they could work well together, just didn’t quite gel in 2019 but still far from a ‘bad’ match. 10- Randy Orton vs Edge LMS WM36. Long overdue Orton vs Edge 1v1 at Mania that for nearly a decade we thought we’d never see (should’ve happened in 07 as I’ve said). Unfortunately this went down in an empty arena but the two legends gave a great effort with the hand they were dealt I’d say. It was overly long though and naturally the lack of a live audience detracts massively here. I felt bad for all the talent that year but Edge and Drew McIntyre in particular for obvious reasons.

Your commentary on the WM22 match is spot on. It was an amazing 9 minutes, and probably could have been an amazing 90 minutes. Why they weren’t given 20-25 minutes makes no sense to me. Orton, Angle, Mysterio…literally 3 all time legends.
