Yay! I’m so glad you got that awesome feedback on your observation. My kiddos were on the behavior roller coaster this week, too. Thank you for sharing Rime Magic. I ordered it a week ago. Got it on Monday, started using it on Tuesday and have already seen it make a difference. One of my emergent bilingual students was really struggling with decoding longer words and teaching him to find the “magic rime” was the trick to unlock multisyllabic words! He is so fired up and ready to rock third grade text. Thank you for all you share. It really makes a difference.

This made my night!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad to hear that. Honestly surprised you got the kit so fast, but overjoyed that you could see something, start implementing it, and see a different right away. This community is so important! 🙌🏻 Congrats to him and kudos to you for being the teacher to get him what he needed!!!

This has been my worst teacher year in my teaching career and your videos get me ready for each week! I just ordered the secret stories and I’m really excited to see how my first graders react. I come home each week and tell my husband I don’t know what to do and he always puts on your videos for me because he knows you help me stay positive and give me sooo many ideas on how to help my struggling readers! Thank you for your videos! Also love the length of all your videos!

I'm usually a silent watcher but I felt the need to comment. I'm a homeschool mom. Currently homeschooling my kinder and 2nd graders. I don't think you realize just how incredible of a teacher you are and how obvious it is to your viewers and I'm sure the parents. The world truly needs more teachers like you. Even on your worst/most anxious day you are truly a great support for your kiddos. Please keeps shaping those sweet minds.

Thanks for sharing your reality. Life as a teacher is not always perfect or easy! You are an amazing teacher, and your students love you! I am glad your observation went well. I have mine this week. I have been teaching for 23 years and learn so much from you with every video I watch. You may not feel like you have much energy or wasn't in the best of moods this week, but you still inspire me to do better and be more creative each week. Thanks again and have a great week!

Week 3 … do you do “writing workshop Monday? … interactive read aloud Tuesday , “anthology book Wednesday … ect … I’m puzzled and need help 😅
@MrsCallsCampers
@MrsCallsCampers 2 жыл бұрын
Basically what you see is what I do! I can't teach two full curriculums with k and 1 so I just use the anthology decodables! A lot of the pacing I changed for Kinder. First I pretty much stick to it because I I use the decodables but thru have learned more because of secret stories. I use our group read aloud time (k and 1) to do a read aloud (using the kits from Primary Scouts) and cover a million things during that lesson that can work for k and 1!

I love your videos! I have just graduated and will be teaching 3-5 year olds next year. very exciting! I have been wondering though, do you get any planning time apart from Monday morning? It doesn't seem like very long at all.
@MrsCallsCampers
@MrsCallsCampers 2 жыл бұрын
My kids have a 20 min recess in the morning then a 20 minute recess after lunch I could technically use....I just take a longer lunch though. Other than that, no designated planning time, but they get out at a decent time so it doesn't feel terrible to me to stay after school. Also, I don't have one Monday morning but...sometimes I step out for a little during counseling to make copies.

Do they practice what you’ve taught with the worksheets you print? How do you transition from a “subject” to the other? Like from phonics to shared reading. Is there a transition break or you keep going?
@MrsCallsCampers

The worksheets I print are for centers! Phonics to shared reading is part of our literacy listen so there's not a break. The lesson builds. So we do a warm up, phonics, sight words, decodable!

I'm studying to be a teacher and I was curious: how often do teachers get evaluated? Is it once a year or once a semester?
@MrsCallsCampers

It depends on how long you've been in a district and their requirements! My first year it was four times - 2 announced, 2 unannounced. It also depends on your experience - newer teachers will be observed more!

Do you use both decodables and leveled texts with your first graders in reading groups? I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep using leveled readers sometimes with decodables.
@MrsCallsCampers
@MrsCallsCampers 2 жыл бұрын
I switched to just decodables last year! I don't have or use any leveled texts. I might if my district required me but I would stick to decodables as much as you can! If you can put your leveled readers in the library (not even labeled) that would be great for extra practice 🤷🏻‍♀️
@sarahp444
@sarahp444 2 жыл бұрын
My E and G groups don't struggle much at all with leveled readers, but every time I've tried to use them with lower groups (while trying to steer away from focusing on pictures), it's like pulling teeth. I want them to associate reading groups with self-confidence, which is why I'm strongly considering solely decodables!

+Mrs. Call's Campers Mayleen , I used to be a talker myself and I had my challenges daily adjusting from home to school when I was a student because once I am in my element I am more stable left there and of course that was not always an option and I said that to say this . Maybe the students need more time to get their Thanksgiving Break I miss my friend energy out . If at all possible , is there a way that you can provide your students chat time daily regardless of how short or long the day is because when your students are empty of things to talk about and energy to let out you are only making room for you to teach something into them . I hope that this helps and thank you for your vlogs . - Dwight
