Ohhh! I love the color coding idea for the read alouds! About to do that with MP Kindergarten guide!

Thank you so much for this! We jumped into Memoria Press mid year in 1st grade this year. Super helpful to see this. I agree about Gail Gibbons’ books and the evolutionary comment in every one of them!! But my boys love the pictures and info and they’re young enough, I rent from the library and just skip that sentence- it’s usually just one. But I wish they would find different science books to recommend. I’m a bit confused about the math. They seem to include Rod and Staff, Grade 2, lessons 1-40 towards the end of the 1st grade manual. But we’re behind m, since we jumped in mid-year. And I’d love to just start that 2nd grade math book in 2nd grade. It looks like your manual has the math that way- that Grade 2, lesson 1 starts at the beginning of 2nd grade year. Am I right?

I think they changed the math scope and sequence.

Does the curriculum guide tell you what to focus on/discuss with your child for each reading selection?

Yes!

How far off are the times that it takes for the kids to do their school work? We are planning on doing the English portion of MP this year (Simply Classical Level 1). Super excited to do this with my rising first graders. If you have any other helpful tips or tricks I would appreciate it.

My daughter did everything very quickly. She was usually done in 1-2 hours.

How did your girls do with learning Latin as their LA? We tried for a minute with my son, but it was more secondary...like a second language, not as main LA. So we never stuck with it.

I am a failure at Classical education and have yet to implement Latin consistently lol! I think I’m going to do MP’s live classes!

@@EducationalRoots I don't feel bad then 😅 it just seemed....not what we needed for a 7 year old. I like Latin and Greek and Hebrew (husband still has his entire Hebrew high school curriculum in our office) for older ages, if they want to learn. But as the main LA? I just want verbs and nouns right now 🤣

@@KorenKlein Lol! Sometimes even that I’m like eh...but for my to-be 6th grader I think a live class would be best. I’m learning to outsource when I just can’t seem to get to it!

@@EducationalRoots we do Beast Academy for my son's 2 and now 3rd grade math. Very different, but we like it. *I* have learned a lot! And can teach him when not using the videos because I watched them all and learned the lingo. Definitely get needing to outsource 😍
