best "hack " i came up with for foam, since i must be weird shaped lmao, buy a roll of velcro, and you can custom cut a surround, where u can add/delete sections 1 layer at a time to build it out, to where you can still use your favorite foam surround. helped me tremendously... i have a super narrow bridge and a perscription around 4.0 ... so i could custom build the base that i now can't budge from the newbee foam.

@fullwatts70405 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. Just pluggin in my HD02's for the first time, Screens are nice and clear, the focus adjust is so nice. Finally a crisp image without having to fiddle around with fit. My BIG takeaway, and the reason I'm considering returning them or just selling them, is the "ring". The circular lenses create a big distracting ring around the image, and since they catch a little light from the screen it's *very* distracting, It's like looking at a movie screen in a dark theater and seeing a dimly lit ring around the entire movie screen. Every single prior google had had rectangular lenses and I've never noticed a ring or border around the image. I'm going to take them out and fly them tomorrow and see if it's not too distracting. Wondering if you see the ring too and if you find it distracting. Maybe you have a tip on how to minimize or remove that effect. Thanks in advance for a reply.

@daemn425 жыл бұрын
@Mr Steele, Adding thicker foam won't allow you to move your eyes away from the lenses. If your eyelashes touch the lenses at the point that you achieve optimal focus right now, then that distance is fixed no matter how far the rest of your face is from the goggles. If you add thicker foam, you'd just have to run the focus further back. The only way to add more eye relief (allow greater range of distance from lens to eyeball) is to use less magnification of the primary lens which then produces a smaller FoV (unless you simultaneously increase the size of the display panel itself). That's why the DomV2 and HDO optics work for a greater percentage of people, than the super high FoV HD (which worked for almost no one) and HD2s (which work for only some people). BTW, the reason the HDO2's can provide narrower IPD is because of the round housing around the lenses. The minimum IPD is determined by the point at which the housings around the lenses collide with the cutout for the nose. When the housing was a rectangle, the corner hits sooner. Making the housing round there provides another 2.5mm extra movement to the inside on each side. (54mm versus 59mm)

So, for me the big question on the new goggles is what happens with the head tracker? The HT button is still there... is the head tracker included or needs to be purchased as a separate module like it did on the older dominators? And how do you connect it to the radio if the HT port is gone? Maybe they devised a wireless device? Now that would be cool and useful.

@MrSteeleFPV5 жыл бұрын
Not what I was told from the fatshark guys
@dana27505 жыл бұрын
Mr Steele this is from there manual online Input Power: The HDO2 is shipped in Legacy Mode. If you connect a 7-13V (2S or 3S) power source to the power port the HDO2 will automatically power on and it will power off when the source is removed. With a short press, the Power Button will turn on and off the fan while in this mode. If you hold the button, the HDO2 will continuously beep to remind you the headset is in Legacy Mode and the goggles will not power down. If you want, you can change the input power to use the Power Button to turn on and off the headset. To do this, you need to remove the Expansion Bay door and move the power mode jumper from Legacy Mode to Button Mode as show below. Pictures missing While the headset is in Button Mode and powered off, a long press will turn on the headset. While the headset is in operation, a short press on the power button will change the fan speed. A beep will indicate maximum fan speed. A long press will power down the headset. Fan speed is proportional to the input voltage. If the headset is being powered from a 2S battery, maximum speed is recommended, and we recommend lowering fan speed if using a 3S source. The low battery alarm also exhibits different behaviors for 2S and 3S sources. It is designed to work for a 2S source and may not provide much warning for a 3S source. We recommend not relying on the low battery indicator if you are using a 3S source as it will provide a very limited time window in which to return and land safely.

Two things I learnt from this video: 1) Skyzone should be worried since so many of their 03O reviewers said they were better than the HDO's, but now Fat Shark have brought out these HDO2's with diopter AND focus adjustments AND a much bigger FOV AND can take RapidFire. 2) My bank balance isn't healthy enough to buy them :( Guess I'll have to stick to my HD2's for the time being.
@Thibsgod5 жыл бұрын
I think Skyzone is just targeting a lower price market. But for the lower price and lower FOV, you still have a better DVR and a full OSD menu. Fatshark could just be at that level, and it feels kind of lazy.

The only reason FatShark have brought these out is because of the competition from SkyZone and Orqa though. Otherwise we'd have had to wait another year boefre they evolved the HDO's...

Trying to play catch up with Orqa who are shipping this week... Can't wait to transfer DVR footage wirelessly. I'm much more interested in innovative feature than a company who didn't care for so long and can't change its design.
@jjj253135 жыл бұрын
I forgot exactly who has the interview. Maybe bardwell? It was with a fatshark guy and he seemed pretty genuine. Explained some reasons that prevented them from redesigning it. The design is one thing but their tooling is a big cost investment. These new features require different molds and tooling which are a huge upfront investment for a business of that size. A lot of logistics went in to just keeping the company alive and keeping the goggles under $1,000 with their small margains.

Orqa would be the last thing I'd ever buy with more digital systems on the way from who knows who! They've waited so long to get theirs out I think they really missed their window! No way I'm throwing six hundred and some of bucks at a pair of analog goggles! That's a terrible buy with digital upon us in multiple options, within the next year or sooner for sure! No way! 😩👎
@RR1235 жыл бұрын
@@scootroter4859 that's a whole other discussion. We're talking HDO2 vs. Orqa FPV.One, so you're not buying HDO2 either. I don't like DJI, I fly tinyhawks to 5+". It's not a choice right now. Also these new OLED have a higher resolution than DJI and have HDMI. So this doesn't make sense...

@@jjj25313 FatShark is doing interesting things especially with ByteFrost, though how open a standard that'll be will determine if it can replace a decades old industry wide standard that is NTSC/PAL... That said, on this one they seemed to have been sitting on their ass to protect their margin until skyzone & orqa forced them to move forward. Competition is good, I hope every one survive to the next round of goggles, but right now innovation is not in their court.

Mr Steele well I highly appreciate your feedback on these goggles ....(I Really do!!) because for one...I know your going to give use the truth about them. Two is ..you help develop products all the time for your own company (Ethix products ..which I own a lot of) ..and you know what the hell your talking about when it comes to FPV hobby. Keep that awesome content coming bro😎

YEA!!!! Finely an upgraded DOM HD2. Too cool... I have the same issue with IPD adjustment so should gain the same improvement. But is it a 50 degree or 46 degree FOV? At any rate way to go Fat Shark!
