Really brings me back to the height of arena when we would scrimmage NAL teams and have a blast. Being matched against really good teams forced us to get better, seeing how efficient you are with your movement and actions makes me miss the boys from arena.

Bilge isn't really underappreciated, it's just the place with the lowest skill floor and where a new or otherwise less experienced player can make a positive difference in. In a crew of equally skilled people, bilge as a focus is given the same value as any other: instead of looking at what someone is least bad at, they look at what they are best. Plenty of stories in servers I've been in were of players that alone kept a galleon on life support, enough in time for the rest of the crew to respawn and bring their ship back from the brink.

Even if the water looks just halfway into the lower deck, what keeps the ship afloat is the bilge crew's bucket and their callouts once the water really starts pouring.

This was god damn beautiful. I'm a solo slooper, duo sometimes and rarely brig. Gally is a beast of its own and the POV from your bilge role was incredibly fascinating to watch. The opposing gally boarding like that early on was scary to say the least. Great comeback and hope to see more of these fights from you guys.

Small tip, If you use the barrel to get water you dont need to wait for all the water to flow in, if you see the first Bit of water going in you can restart

out of curiosity how do you decide which holes to rep other than "closest/biggest"? I'm my crews flex, so not majorly important for me, but I would rather learn so I can more effectively help if I need, and also learn how to effectively shutdown the enemy bilge (aside from cursed spam since rng)

There are several factors when deciding hole prioritization. Tier 3 holes are usually the first ones. A single tier 3 can decide if you need help or not. I like to path to the holes deeper down the ship first and work my way towards the stairs. Also try to pay attention to if the enemy is spreading their shots or not. If they are piling a specific spot, then do that spot last and work your way towards it. Sometimes call for help early if you notice the broad is constantly re-opening and increasing in pressure. Even if the water is not that high. Better to be safe than sorry! Alot of other factors are at play also, it comes down to having the experience with being pressured down there.

I got a few good tips from this. Perhaps the worst thing I've been doing wrong was being too cheap with planks and instead using the bucket more than perhaps opportune, so I'll be locked in a state where I can't repair without the lower deck flooding only when receiving a lot of heat, not half the time. Not paying attention to when you have lulls between volleys and when the crew could use another active cannon also adds to it.

That's called x-bucketing. It is patched. X-cancelling does not speed up the rate at which you grab and throw even tho it may seem that it does. It's a habit for me. Sometimes if you throw a bucket on accident and you notice it will backsplash. You can x-cancel the throw and stop the backsplash. It's a good thing to be second nature at.

The skill level has increased, but also the ''top teams'' don't exist anymore since theres no actual competitive scene that exists in the game any longer...
