Use to play this arrangement a lot back in high school. It kind of became our signature piece. I played solo every time and I still miss improvising on those chords. That was when I first seriously developed my feel for Brazilian rhythms. Thanks so much for uploading, takes me back to the good old days of never ending jazz haha.

@@riptide534 This exact one. It is an arangement by Bob Mintzer. It is a great arangemen made primerely for school bands. So it is rare to hear it being played by proffesional big bands. I am happy to hear it in a more proffesional setting.

Tempo is fine, but the horns are playing on the back side of the beat. Rhythm section is spot-on during the keyboard solo, but when all the horns play, they’re behind. That “back side of the beat” section work makes it feel like it’s too slow, even though it isn’t.
