The reason given for Chris's departure officially was that the production made him _"tired",_ which was, of course, a lie. The episode immediately following Chris's leaving was The Christmas Invasion, ending with the 9th Doctor's ascending incarnation cutting short the career of someone he once considered a friend, merely with the line _"Don't you think she looks tired?"_ Thus planting doubts of her capabilities and consequently ending what was likely to be a highly prosperous life of work. It was a strange thing reading I Love the Bones of You and The Writer's Tale simultaneously just last year; chapters tragically lining up, as Russell's joking of Julie's insistence to see Chris shirtless in the show matched with Chris's confessions of how insecure and belittled he felt shooting the torture scene in Dalek (being, in his own words, _"skeletal")._ Christopher Eccleston owes us nothing. He owes the BBC nothing, and he certainly owes Russell T Davies (whom I consider to be the greatest writer in the world, in case you suspect I'm bias) nothing. It is a privilege to have him back. It is not something I ever would have asked of him.

My headcanon is that these boxsets take place in the middle of Episode 1. I mean in "Rose" he looked into the mirror to check how he looks like, meaning he was fresh off his regeneration, so I doubt these adventures happened before that. What happened in my opinion is that War Regenerates, meets Rose, deals with Mannequins, rose declines and he leaves, after which his solo adventures happen (ones Rose saw at the beginning when she saw his pictures in different eras) and also Big Finish adventures happen after which he returns to Rose and says "it can travel through time too."

"I HAVE DONE THE THING! TEMPORAL THING, RADIATING THROUGH THE TARDIS LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS!" has become one of my favourite 9 lines simply because it shows how much Chris has kept that energy 15 years on

I was just at Dragoncon and got to see his panel. I loved how honest and open he was about so much, it really puts things into prospective. He seemed genuinely excited about doing the Big Finish. It may have started as just a paycheck, but I'm so glad that he found something he can work with and have such a good time doing.

It's the little moments that make Christopher Eccleston's return all the better. Moments like his reaction to the TARDIS getting him back from Ravagers, the gag with two Doctors from Girl Deconstructed and his reaction to facial hair in Planet of the End. All so good and I'm so glad he's back

Now this is what I was waiting for! I absolutely loved these sets especially ‘Responds to all Calls’ it’s so good to have Eccleston back! And it’s great to properly hear your views on them! It’s Sad to see ‘The Trip of a Lifetime’ end.

As much as I'd love Christopher Eccleston to appear in a television multi-Doctor story, it's more than good enough that he's doing Big Finish. After the way he was treated, we are incredibly lucky that he's even willing to come back and doing these incredible stories in audio format.

Even if he doesn’t come back for a television multi-Doctor story, hopefully he’ll join the Big Finish Doctors for a story in the future.

I’ll be honest it took me a while to get used to hearing Christopher on Big Finish cause at first he sounded really different which could be the microphone or if they set it to a different pitch. I don’t know if this is only me. But overall it’s Fantastic to hear 9th Back and I look forward on his new adventure with the Cybermen in 1929’s Metropolis!

I loved hearing that epilogue at the end. While Deep Breath was the first episode I watched from beginning to end in 2014, it wasn’t until I watched Series 1 on Netflix where I became a fan. So Eccleston was the Doctor that got me into the show. I am so happy that Eccleston has become more open about the show now and he has come back as the 9th Doctor for Big Finish audio adventures. I rewatched the Modern series last year due to Lockdown and I forgot how Fantastic he was. I’m honestly sad to see this series end. But before you go MrTardis, I just want to say this Trip of a Lifetime series has been fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So have you.😊

I find it a bit funny that a criticism of Ravagers is that it is a standard Big Finish volume 1 that they've done repeatedly with new Doctor Who material; they always play safe to get people on board before doing new stuff.

If you end up wanting to return to this series for coverage of the remaining big finish releases (and any future things that may be announced) you might also consider the 9th doctor comics line, or possibly a coverage of the various cameos in comics crossovers or, for example, Kingmaker.

“Don’t you think [he] looks tired,” is essentially what the BBC said about Eccleston made worse by the fact that they lied about him saying that about himself. For Russell to then put that in a script seems a direct dig at Christopher. Maybe he was a bit bitter about the whole thing.

Marketing at the time could have mentioned Eccleston. I think most people forget his character's existence in general. Even me sometimes, and I have a very good memory when it comes to capeshit.

Thor: The Dark World must have been filmed with a Silence on the lens because I swear it's impossible to feel like you've watched the movie- Everytime you watch it, you immedeately forget it all. That being said, I've heard Eccleston apparently hated being in the role and "only did it for money." Classic Chris.

It still stings that Chris holds so much hatred towards the BBC. I'm not saying what they did was in any way justifed, but surely anybody who every wronged him has moved on. I don't think the sins of the father mentality is justifed, but that's just my opinion as someone who would love to see him back on TV

It’s the bbc as an organisation. Like why should the bbc ask the public to give money to children in need and the NHS when the government should do that

Given some of the horror stories that have come out about how rushed and chaotic the behind the scenes production in the Chibnall era is, it doesn’t seem like much has changed.
