At first, I was thinking “why another new RPG?” and then I watched … Now, I love this idea! This would be the perfect introduction to RPG’s when someone asks me, “What’s all this gaming stuff about?” Or brand new people who are/might be interested in getting involved. I could just have a few sheets ready and we could start playing - I always have dice with me at all times. ❤️

Bingo! That’s exactly what it’s for.

It’s really cool to see how different people address same problems differently, or consider matching / not matching mechanics / rules. Especially, as someone creating an own system for a specific purpose it’s really fascinating, I love the whole there is no right or wrong way to it. In case you or anyone wants to take some of these points, feel absolutely free to take or change them, with that out of the way the purpose is that we have two ADHD players and myself autist and I realized that there are things I really dislike about currently common systems and they struggle so I sat down with them to ask what they struggle with the most and how it could be better, also researched a bit and rn our main focus is on those points: -Have as many physical representations of things as sensefully possible, e.g. instead of hitpoints or actions we have for both physical little tokens to simply take away or put back infront of them. -Generally, keep the character sheet as light and clean as possible, so for us now mainly stuff like backstory, species, class etc - keep descriptions of skills etc as short clean and concise as possible so that it all is easy to remember and can match on a card easily without needing to constantly have to look more info’s about it up. - keep the math intuitive and clean , which honestly took me 4 tries to now get kinda in a right way that it’s not bland boring but also not like oh add or subtract together 3 or more dice and 5 modifiers etc So currently we have the Main die, one modifier through experiences (taken from daggerheart) and otherwise stuff might allow you to roll again or influence the DC to get over. So the start DC en is 20 and the better your character is in a skill / attribute it goes down by 2 up to 10. -keep skill amounts and item amounts low and easy to lay out / to remember and see what you currently have at your disposal, instead of spellslots we have tokens again so it’s clear visible and touchable if you can or can’t do that rn - lastly the overwhelm with level ups in systems like dnd, so we limited it to 1-3 changes per level up e.g. one skill up, 1 new ability done so it’s limited in what you get new at any given point and is easier to remember and integrate into your play So yea that’s basically the main points :) Lastly good luck with yours and everyone else if you feel like doing an own one but didn’t start yet coz of doubt, stop thinking start doing you’ll do great :)

Awesome comment!

This looks like it could double as a great D20 battle game as well. Im really excited for this. I read through the comments and agree with armor having damage reduction. I know this is still early in development, i trust you will get it solid. Looking forward to this!

Thanks! I am creating a closed channel on my Discord as well, make sure to ping me there so I know who you are.
Hell yeah! The more games made the better the ttrpg becomes

If you have both AC to hit, and armor reduction, i would recommend you to either have a minimum of 1 damage or for armor to reduce your AC, you are easier to hit while wearing armor after all. Mostly because it really sucks if you struggle to hit someone with high AC just to do 0 damage to it.

That’s a good point, thanks

Are you familiar with Knave by Questing Beast? The first edition tried to do much the same as you but it is part of the OSR and thus compatible with old school adventures and monster stat blocks. Thought I'd mention it as it might be inspirational reading. For progression, a common thing in the OSR is diegetic progression where you gain new customization through play rather than leveling. Easiest example is a magic item. Cairn 2e Warden Manual (completely free) has a good discussion on it. But cool to see you tackling your own system. I think this is one of the reason why I like game design in TTRPGs as opposed to video games because it is so much more accessible.

I like the concept a lot! My first thought was : well, what about social? I hear you say it'll be skills and flaws. What's your vision in that sense?
@MrTarrasque13 күн бұрын
Thanks! Well, depending on the way a character decides to handle a situation the GM could have them roll a mental or physical roll and add (or substract) whatever skill or flaw relates to that situation. Intimidation for example can be mental and/or physical depending on how it’s done.
@nicolasmarion591313 күн бұрын
@@MrTarrasque so, if I understand correctly, trying to con someone would be a mental roll, while performing a dance would be a physical one?
@MrTarrasque13 күн бұрын
@nicolasmarion5913 exactly, BUT remember that it’s up to the GM and Player to work together to come up with the right roll for the situation. It’s all about the narratieve. Make sure to download the pdf on my patreon page.
i think this is awesome and not hard to understand at all. 1. on lvl up, i would change / write: +1 to skill, -1 to flaw, 2. on lvl up: add 1 new skill, 1 new flaw. 3. i would try to add a 3rd attribute / stat. maybe body for dex or soul for charisma, something like that. maybe body for dex and charisma
@MrTarrasque11 күн бұрын
Yep, reformulating that. Thanks! The things like charisma ect should be customised in the skills and flaws section
I might be missing something but light weapons feel like the best choice overall. Avg dmg of a d4 is 2.5 ((4+1)/2) meaning that with 2 attacks you make an average of 5 dmg. A medium weapon avg damage is 4.5. With your description of flavoring light attacks as you wish, you could also wield a shield with a light weapon and render medium weapon useless. You are not that far off the average damage of a heavy weapon either (6.5) but you do not compromise on the ac bonus of a shield. I would not mess with action economy if you want a super simple system. Similarly, I would focus on physical dmg reduction above AC to make a quick combat system. This is personal, but I always found the idea of a d20 to hit + damage dice to be weird. You get a 19 to hit ? Awesome ! But then you roll poorly on damage and you only inflict 1 damage. Well what’s the point of rolling high on the d20 except losing time then?
@MrTarrasque11 күн бұрын
These are very solid and helpfull points. I'm still figuring out the weapon damages ect. The everage damage of two d4 is 5dmg when you roll them both. It's two saperate attacks that need to hit so that changes the math a little bit. But still I think you are right with it being to close to the medium one. A sollution I'm thinking off is that the two attacks only work while dual wielding. This puts all the weapons in their own little categorie. Also, here is a newer version of the pdf: drive.google.com/file/d/1gZ4sauNd5LCoSLUBtSwbpYqpKKMw_Bfl/view
@antoinehorguelin308411 күн бұрын
Oh yes you’re right! I like the added flavor of dual weilding for light weapons and the added damage would feel like a risk / reward choice. What you showed is really cool. I wish you the best in the development of your system 😄

Thanks so much! I’m moving this to Backerkit to get a little funding, if you can spare 5 bucks…. 😉

Couldn’t find a link or find it in backerkit, but as soon as it’s announced officially I’ll go get it!
apreciate the effort, cause i tried it too. that being said, i daresay i have quite a bit of experience with ttrpgs, and i probably could understand it if i looked at it long enough. however, i get overwhelmed just looking at this, and i can imagine a beginner would just nope out. im not saying thats representative for the target audience, it might just be me. im also not saying thats necesarily a bad thing. im just saying the simplicity is not obvious. as far as mechanics go, im sure its possible to go even simpler, but i suspect thats not actually the goal
