Congrats!!! 3 things : 1) you are absolutely right about your initial point (players need to feel powerfull and have their fun with low level creatures). 2) Thanks for the videos (always great seeing the cypher system get some attention). 3) OMG I was cited in your video! Thanks for that, men! I'm humbly proud about it cause your reasonning about the official swarm rules was excatly why I changed it a bit (all merits goes to the cypher system : it's so cool of a system!!!) :)

All of these are great ways of handling swarms in the Cypher System. I also used some ad hoc gang-up rules when I used Cypher for a couple of Star Wars sessions for stormtroopers (mainly when dealing with the PC that had like 3 or 4 armor). In my case, ganging up provided an equivalent benefit of levels of Effort, so every time a group of equal levels doubled in size (x2, x4, x8, etc.), that would be +1 level in Effort (+1 difficulty, +3 damage, or +1 effect) at the cost of the additional actions that would've taken place. For simplicity's sake, I would only have NPCs of equal level make use of this gang-up ad hoc ruling. It not only helped make the combat round go quicker, this mechanical expression of this kind of tactic felt right in play.

On page 313 of the Numenera Destiny book, it has details about Hordes with community actions... Iv always kinda used that and the "Creatures at War" Table to add extra flavour for a Swarm... So, like... Goblins are a 1(3) creature normally, but in a group (6-8) they now become 4(12), and always do 1 point of Might or Speed pool damage. This is because they're stereotypically swarmy little bugs, with atleast knives, and typically know how to "shank" someone... so 6-8 will always get 1 point of damage because of sheer odds. I'll then use the damage output of the PC when the Horde takes damage to calculate how many were killed, and make reductions to the Horde stats as needed. This, for me, as kept a Horde battle narrative and cinematic, and the players typically can tell the tide of battle... y'know, how well they're doing! LOL

Shout out to you for pronouncing my name correctly. I agree with you, the rule from the comment is a nice improvement on the rules from the books.

Cypher rather comes in strong at Tier 1 as it is. Giving most players an initial thrill. Static NPC levels allow for a true feeling of being special. By Tier 6, I'm rather looking for starting over with a new character to try a new phrase for character creation. There are some ways to go above Tier 6 and take up an extra Focus or other crazy notions not in the book.

Quick little grammar fix for your KZbin title, it should be "too" instead of "to" 👍🏾
