Great vid man. I was looking at a few peoples suggestions and i have one of my own. I was thinking if you had a generator incorporated into the truckbed and get a battery bank in there, you could eliminate the combustibles blowback ,by turning truck off when you get to your destination,and turn on the generator that would be using the rest of the woodgas to charge the batteries, and if you wanted to make it even a more versitile vehical install an electric drivemotor to your driveline. And if you could get an old electric car battery bank and use part of it so your batteries wouldnt weigh so much. Then you dont have to worry about the firebox when you shut down. And if you say ran outa woodgas you could switch to battery power,before you had to use gasoline. And if you were needing to run quiet, the electric would be great,like when your hunting or something. And if you just needed to use the gasifyer for electricity, the generators already part of the system,and that would be a bomb setup. Love your vids man.

Mr Teslonian, first of all thank you for your unselfish sharing of excellent ideas. I have afew questions. I s your truck still running? Are you satisfied with the performance? Had you thought abour adding an egt gauge and a vacuum pressure manifold gauge to assist in adjusting the rpm due to the hydrogen? Since the mpp is 1.5-1.7 and a pickup is best suited would you personally think this is best economy, or is another method more practical for bot pickups and automobiles? Last question, approximately hours did you have to devote to this project, and if you had better tools, could it have been done more efficiently? Note: of all the sites that I have explored regarding more efficient use of home grown resources for self-relient people you definately make into the top five!

Best of luck on the build, be safe gasifiers have the potential for catastrophic failure if not done properly and remember it's a giant tank of explosive gas that has two things you never want in that situation and that is open flames and fresh air inlets in with the explosive gas!

Job well done, Mr T!...I've got an old '99 F-150XL, standard 6 cylinder that I thought about junking or giving away for a few bucks. Maybe, it's a good candidate for a wood gasifier conversion like your own truck? I'm not a mechanical person, that's my main reason for hesitation. And also running the risk of blowing myself up sky high! Glad it worked out for yourself. The ability to run a generator and other stuff through the front-end filter cap gives it many valuable capabilities. Thank you, for sharing what I consider to be one of the best 'How To' videos out there are on KZbin!

As it stands the implementation is awesome, and I beleive that on a smaller scale, a generator (with a recip engine) can be make to power the house or at least some constantly on equipment. Very nice design, thanks for sharing it. I copied your burner design and it works great. One thing I put on mine that you don't have on that one is a water jacket to catch condensation. I picked that idea up from Jay at Victory Gasworks. It's amazing how much water it catches: 2- 3 cups per hour from seemingly well seasoned wood. My water jacket is 15" long (because that's what I had kicking around), a section of the same 100lb propane cylinder material as my fuel hopper. I cut a small strip out of the seam area, then used a ratcheting tie strap to squeeze it together. I made mine 1" smaller diameter, for a gap of 1/2' all around. I tacked up the seam, then held a hammer under each tack and pounded it flat to tighten the seam, then welded it tight. I added a 1/2" flare at the bottom with part of an end cap, welded 4 tapered 1/2" vertical tabs at 90 degree intervals near the top to make it line up evenly with the outer cylinder at the top, then pounded 'er in until the top edge was just below where the cap starts to taper, and welded up the lower seam. Finally I drilled a hole on the outside, right at the upper edge of the weld, welded a short bung over it and added a drain tap. Once it was done, I leak tested it. The first thing I learned was it holds a surprising amount of water. 2 coffee cans won't get it near the top. No leaks though.

Hi, really awesome stuff, two questions: 1. Since your radiator's piping is cool before the end, does that mean it is longer than it needs to be? 2. Could you, as a filter, have another drum filled with tighly packed straw or sawdust, and every now and then, replace it and use the old, tar filled filling as fuel for the reactor? Nice. However you should be avare of co poisining. During the WWII Sweden had more than 70 000 cars running on woodgas and as much as 2 persons per day died of poisening.

may need a feed for lubrication of valve seats if they are not hardened.....similar to what gas vehicles operate on in australia............if there is no cushion ....valve seats will wear down rather rapidly

I have seen lesser systems kill smal engines with the creasoak buildup. Im wondering how your system faired. And how many times you were pulled over by the cops. LOL well done. Other systems have used things like Waterbed matress colectors that an air compressor was plumed into to fill compressed Tanks (LP Tanks) for storage and portability operation. Hi Great videos I watched many. I would like to discuss some of your projects if possible. I like to know if they be viable if done on a large scale? We have an issue with the emerald ash bore. To prevent spreading the bore I would like to burn the trees affected and at the same time generate hydro. My question is how much material can be burnt and how fast? Des it generate waste byproducts not easy to dispose of? Are there environmental practices in place? Can creosote be made? I hear it has been used of insecticide in the past but had issues with cancer?
