So yes the Grenade Launcher is in Halo 5 post launch, but you were never allowed to use it in the campaign.

Funny thing i discovered way back in the day with the plasma repeator. If you give it bottomless mags the bloom keeps increasing until eventualy it shrinks back to normal and becomes lazer accurate. Completly impractical, but was fun to do

It’s a different model. The assault rifles were mostly all a part of the MA5 series of rifles, much like the M4, M9, M1911/M45, M85, L85, ETC. The Halo CE AR was the MA5B The Halo 3/ODST was MA5C Halo 4/5 was MA5D Reach was still a part of the MA series, but it was the MA37 Infinite was the MA40 All guns were made by Misriah Armory. Much like Armalite Rifle where the AR in AR-15 sits, it’s basically Misriah Armory 5 (Series) ___ (Model) It also follows conventional naming too. The MA37 in Reach was adopted by the UNSC in 2437, just like how the M1911 entered military service in 1911

Because game balance gets more difficult with each weapon added to the sandbox. If you have too many weapons that fill a similar niche, you have to make them balanced so there isn't one that outshines the others too much, but in doing so, you make them all feel the same. so why have multiple weapons that are basically the same when you have limited budget and development time.

If the silenced SMG is just a silenced version of the normal SMG, then Halo 2 also had the sileneced SMG, but it was on a test map for Halo 2 Vista. Not sure if that counts then, but it was technically in the game. Another thing I thought of was the plasma launcher. In warzone you could technically get the plasma launcher by killing a grunt that used it and then really quickly picking it up. I think about lost Halo weapons more often than is probably healthy The needle rifle is definitely my favorite, but I think it was kind of annoying to use in PVE sometimes. I didn't always like how enemies jumped out of the way as if every needle was an explosive. Of course this could just as well be considered an advantage because it made it easy to suppress enemies shooting at you, but it also made it hard to hit them multiple times quickly, and it especially made it annoying to stagger jackals and follow up with headshots or pop the helmets off of brutes and grunts and follow up quickly.

Me personally would love to see the Pro Pipe it's the Grenade Launcher but with a Plasma Slug rounds, an I agree with the Needle Rifle they can easily turn the Carbine into a burst firing weapon so they don't feel so similar.

I personally really like the halo 4 versions of the binary rifle, incineration cannon and light rifle. I love how punchy the binary rifle feels and sounds, same with the incineration cannon. Their high power, low magazine size gives them a sense of lethality beyond the covenant or human weapons like theyre truly more deadly. The light rifle i just really like how it swapped between burst and single shot depending on if you were scoped in. Felt very high tech

There was also a little indicator on the screen for when enemies were near the explosive, but the screen was too small to make good use of it in my opinion, but the idea was cool, though similar to anything else that sticks, like a plasma grenade

I miss the Plasma Rifle. In the older games the Covenant guns were designed for any Covenant race to be able to wield them. Since Sangheli hands aren’t chiral and have a thumb on each end, the Plasma Rifle accommodates for that. The newer Covenant guns often don’t take that into consideration, and more so focused on how Chief will hold the gun. They’re more human biology centric than alien biology centric.

If you ask me, the focus rifle was never a substitution for the beam rifle, but the sentinel beam. There just wasn't enough forerunner stuff on Reach to justify having it in the game. And I'd take it over the sentinel beam any day. Cuts through shields like butter.

I think the Focus rifle was designed to change the role of jackal snipers in PVE. Instead of just killing you instantly it drains your shields while giving a tracer to reveal where the sniper was that shot you. It made it so snipers were a target you needed to prioritize without making them instant game overs that you need to spawn back in multiple times to figure out where they are and then kill, which I think is a more fun dynamic in campaign.

I am by no means an expert on tactics or firearms but it seems interesting (it's a balancing thing ultimately) that the UNSC uses 'cold war' style single shot, break action grenade projector. I say this because many militaries have been using fully automatic 40mm launchers for decades in the real world! If you're not familiar, yes they are just as badass as you might imagine and I think it would be cool in Halo. Imagine stunlocking a Brute chief with a dozen 40mm nades until he finally explodes into chunky hamburger

Avoid locking on and lead them with a round… and if they are a player chase them with a locked on round directly into the path of one shot freely. I NEVER missed with it… would get good kill streaks every time I picked one up. Loved the Plasma Launcher.

Technically while not useable without mods probably the big sentinels in halo 2 use a completely unused weapon that does appear. Both their more accurate rapid fire tracker needle like shots as well as that one alternative volley fire. Halo 5 technically has all the alternative vehicle weapon types of the mantis using a never seen slow auto precision gauss replacement for the chain gun and alternate energy based faster velocity missile replacements that act more as quick target suppression and anti armor measures. Additionally it sports the only EMP melee option ever seen with a range big enough to catch pesky banshees flying too close, stopping and sending shockwaves for vehicles impeding offline movement while this melee stomp is also a faster stomp speed than other models. I think there is also an upgrade tank using some kinda laser with energy shield but i never used that. Both the ultra wraith and ultra banshees sport effectively upgraded weaponry types but nothing much changes beyond cluster plasma for the wraith and lingering stronger bombs for the banshees with probably the only upgraded base plasma gun’s on any vehicle that only increases accuracy. Even the ultra ghost plasma at least becomes tiny AOE shots doing slightly more damage. Technically any bayonet attachment for unsc only ever appears in halo 5, basically mini energy swords any stronger shielding prevents 1 hit k.o.’s and its swept under the rug quietly for balancing sake. The gun goose shots grenade launcher shots that trigger on proximity or bounce once unless the surfaces angle is too tight. The phaton or whatever its called basically the better hornet can: teleport, perfectly horver, carry 5 people by standing on it, carry a tank (dont ask how), carry a mantis (determination required), has a hard light chaingun like weapon that speeds up in firerate, a 4 round rocket salvo (the hornet would never) And has an upgraded version that makes any engagement unfair with basically better everything. Im not considering anything in halo wars too many different enemies and overlapping weapons. If shoots too similar like the wraith turrets on covant or anti armor turrets on unsc its too many to count or think about.

I do think the focus rifle should've been headshot-capable to justify its power weapon respawn timer/availability. Sniper would still be better in the sniping role if you could land headshots, but focus rifle would be a bit more versatile and forgiving at the cost of lower maximum potential. Granted, I stopped playing reach not long after the TU released. Made the DMR too OP because apparently much of halo's playerbase at the time would've preferred the entire game just be SWAT.

If they don't give us back the Neddle Rifle, then at least give us a Needle Shotgun or something! Desperately need more love for the needles! Also if they nerf the Needle Rifle, I'd want a slower projectile to give it more of that authentic needle feel and separate it from the DMR a little more.

Much like the rest of the majority of Reach players, I didn't like the Focus Rifle at the start, and I still believe it isn't that great under standard circumstances. However, with the addition of the skulls you can activate for the campaign in MCC, I had a surprising amount of fun with it using the unlimited ammo skull. So I think its biggest issue was the limited battery charge. It was great fun as a general purpose weapon like a plasma rifle or assault rifle.

weapons I want to see make a comeback: the needle rifle the classic (halo reach) or the halo 5 DMR the sticky detonator the light rifle the halo CE or halo 4's magnum (Mabey halo 5's) the grenade launcher last but not least the carbine get rid of that that no one uses with out a precision weapon plasma carbine PS the deadliest weapon that 343 (Halo studios) ever made was the halo infante match making system😁.
