I used to hike up there as a boy. My father carried an inflatable raft up and took us across the beach half way down on the north side. Huge trout

Tim has some great hiking videos that he posts on KZbin from Ohio. I have enjoyed them, and would encourage watching them when you have the time!

By the time we got up there, it seemed like the secret was already long out. ;)

Kind of a bummer, however it seems the actual trail is still a secret. Good to see my old coleman still floating though.

You make it look easy; I was up there today; still lots of snow. tired.

Camera and editing makes it look easy. This is a steep mother to get up!

You remind me of Robin Williams; I hiked to jay lake yesterday; twelve miles is too much for me.
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) We've only been as far as Wallace Lake. How was the hike to Jay, was it worth the 12 miles? :)
@jameshunt12217 жыл бұрын
Jay lake is only less than one mile past Wallace lake , and it is pretty with lots of color and very quiet. highly recommend the walk; cougar country. take care.

I went to Isabel a week ago on a sunny warm day and the last scramble; most of the trail was a scramble; is a buttkicker. You two make it look easy. I was not impressed with the beauty of the lake compared to other lakes; but I did not walk to the left at the top. I went to the right. There was some yellow pollution? in the water. I saw a sasquatch footprint near may creek on a previous hike in the snow; in April.

Have you guys done a video of the gear you use? What coat or hoodie is Jen wearing? Looking for a good backpacking hoodie. Thanks
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
We typically stay away from product reviews since we spend most of our time outdoors. However that might change in the winter when the weather keeps us indoors more. As far as finding a good hoodie, you can always check www.outdoorgearlab.com/ it's where I do my research before commiting to a piece of gear.

to Jen...are those OR gators?
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
They are OR Verglas gaiters. Jen says, "I like them, they are a good height, reasonable weight. But the buckle strap comes loose and flops around."
@stevenwood71318 жыл бұрын
I have a pair of OR Gaiters, have not used them yet. was planning on using them on the PCT ( that i never made it to...thanks work) and had thought about replacing the strap with a thicker leather strap. it looks like fake shiny leather or vinyl....good to know.
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
I have the OR Crocodiles for the last few seasons and they have held up wonderfully. However, they do not have much of a strap at the top, but they are so thick that they practically hold themselves up. They are definitely a wonderful thing to have out here. :)

I plan to tackle this on Saturday. Would you recommend biking from the TH to the bootpath off the old logging road? I was thinking that could save some time. Looked a bit rocky in parts but overall do-able on two wheels. Also, did you stick to the Pink ribbons only?
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
I would say you can make it up to the boot trail from the road via bike. You might have to walk the bike the first part if you park where we did. But once you get to the powerline and the road, it's an easy ride. As far as markers. They could have changed by now. I'd recommend downloading a GPS app just to make sure.
