I am with the Kent Bodgers UK, and we are making a Great Wheel, an early form of spinning wheel, and we have set ourselves the challenge to use hand tools only, and to be spinning wool on the Great Wheel, also known as a Walking Wheel, by sunset.
Credits: I am very grateful to the following people:
James Robertson who very kindly helped me with shooting the video. He has a very good Instagram page with lots of lovely hand crafted spoons: @jamesrobertsonspoons, so please take a look.
John who made the former for the wheel, and in his usual kind and generous way he made the project possible, letting us all use his woodland, he provided lots of lovely wind blown wood, and kept us all on track throughout the day.
Snowy who provided lots of advice, inspired us all, and bravely spun lots of wool using the wheel.
Everyone from the wonderful Kent and also Sussex bodgers who went the extra mile to get us spinning wool by sunset...thank you.
The National Wool Museum, Dre-Fach Felindre, Felindre, Llandysul SA44 5UP who provided inspiration with their wonderful collection or artefacts, including several Great Wheels, and very friendly and helpful staff...thankyou.
