The latest updates fixed a lot of issues. The RC505 mk2 is now the standard In loop station battles. More loopers are turning to it for the upgraded sample rate, added effects, track bounce and other features.

Completely agree, That is sadly such a horrible business model that happens so often through so many different platforms, not just music, But also Games, and stuff like phones. The phones, just apple as a company, making you buy a new one instead of repairing something that entirely works alright, just one connector isn't in properly. how can they get away with that? I don’t fully agree with this. I’ve played about 35 live shows with this looper and it was definitely tough at first but if you set all the tracks to single instead of multi it works pretty well, and you can make the fx buttons undo buttons instead, simplifying everything.

Hey, I understand what you are saying. But, could you do a comparison of mk1 versus mk2? Like the same attempt done on each one? I dont have a mk1 or mk2, deciding which is best, but theres alot of stuff that is confusing me.. I think mk1 is more ideal, but there's one feature where I can merge sounds together, continously. However watching this, makes me feel like I need a free looper. Then maybe wait a few years for the mk2. Or never :/

Hi, I'll update you once again and I hope to be of help to everyone after months of testing. The latest upgrade has finally come out and can be downloaded from the Roland boss page. You have to download it, save it in the loop station and then do a factory reset. Unfortunately I can then reset all the parameters a bit, which is better if you like them, but it seems very stable and now all the errors seem to have disappeared. Especially since I use it by always launching the times on all the tracks. Holding down stop Play so as to give the same Clock. to all of them and by putting it under intense strain I have seen that for now it is holding up very well theoretically as it should have been in the beginning. If you have any problems I am available for a discussion

I have the RC-600 which supposedly has the same software, but I haven't had any trigger delays or inability to loop freely. Boss / Roland are known for taking too long to fix these types of problems, but hopefully they get to it ASAP. Congrats on not being crazy :P

Ah so good, thanks for sharing these frustrations. I was looking to get one to get away from using ableton for more free form ideas, but ironically looks like that’s prob best tool for me. I’ve now learnt that ableton loopers can actually set the clock based on my timings so got the best of both worlds and just need to figure out a better midi controller.

Thanks for the video. I am looping for years on a Kaoss pad 3, and got the MK II a month ago, very difficult to loop. Now I see you have the same problem, and not just you. For me the biggest issue is the delay in the trigger, I press the loop button to start recording, and have to wait half a second, it should start instantly. I tried fixing this multple ways, still getting nowhere. Do you think they will be able to fix this with some kind of an update ? Thanks again for the video !

I'm totally in the same situation (bought Akai Miniplay as well) and wanna find a solution. Now I've routed all trought KP3+ to RC again and out, so I can make longer loops with KP first (found easier to have longer loops in RC to match beginning of rec). Olso found out, that if you stop all tracks in RC and start again, the KP will go out of sync - so gotta use faders instead.

I kinda get what you are saying, I have both a 505 and a mk 2 and they are definitely quite different in terms of workflow. I think it's a "are you already familiar with the 505" kind of issue. If the first looper you get is a mk 2, you will prob be fine, it's when you have to change a workflow you already have established that problems arise. I disagree with you saying don't but it, I would say "don't buy it if you expect it to be the original 505, just better". I'm recording guitar and bass and also beatboxing and it is sooooooooo much better than the 505 for my purpose but I totally get how someone like you, or brez, or Saro would hate it

Great video. Can I please ask you a question? I have a RC500 and after I hit STOP, it does not stop for about 5 seconds and this throws me off. Drums keep going. I find this even more problematic on longer loops say, over 10 seconds. I have about 10 presets saved. Is it a buffer/memory issue? I am using a non-Boss 300ma power supply. Otherwise it works. On short loops it STOPS immediately. Should I update the Firmware? Otherwise it is a great pedal, stereo and 32 bit quality. Thanks!

I have a Boss RC600, that's mainly the same software with different hardware. Before checkin your video, I was not aware of these bug cause it doesnt affect my workflow, but man its really anoying if you want to do completely free looping (with sometimes I do yo create ambient textures) kinda a pain in the ass, and pretty weird that it needs to follow a tempo and if not it goes crazy and glitchy, it should be optional with the quantize, tempo and loopsync settings, but there's a weird hidden quantization layer working under the hood. Hope Boss takes care of it soon.

First I was using it always following a rhythm, not the internal rhythm track but just something I play in any instrument that has a rhythm no matter the measure, so I play something in a guitar and the RC600 tries to "feel" or "understand" the rhythm tempo of what I play and it choose the basic tempo of the song accordingly. If its a tempo thats "measurable" it does a great job on getting the basic tempo of the loop (I would say more the basic click of the loop), but after watching your video I tried to play my guitar without any tempo just hitting the strings randomly, and the Boss RC600 really freaked out, with glitchy sounds in my recording, like trying to guess tempo or the rhythm when theres no rhythm.... so it can't record completely free, like its kinda always stuck to the rhythm track.... Anyways Im gonna try more stuff and see how its going on.. but pretty annoying anyways

USB Audio works instantly for me on MK2 (using MBP & ableton). My MK1 made me restart each time for ableton to see it. Might be an issue with your computer. I agree with your other issues though, just FYI.

I had a bad MPC sent it back and the next one was ok for a while and it is crap now, they won't read the SD card and access the expansion instruments , the trouble is I didn't know what I was doing in the begining, if it was my lack of knowledge or was it the machine, now I know it is the MPC, they are shite. I always just pre-load a blank loop so I can punch in at anytime. It's possible. I can't remember the settings. All ya gotta do is set the measures and hold stop and record. Then you have a blank loop so you arent quantized.

I think it's just expectation vs reality. Trying to play the MKII like its the MK1, but it's a new framework & pipeline. Unfortunately for him the MKII will probably be the standard in loopstations.. Also there are a few dozen settings I've been able to toggle to get much closer to the MK1 feel. You'd have to assume updates will come out so it'll be foolish not to start adapting to MKII if beatboxer. Most of the instrument loopers I see use almost no input or track FX so they have the least to gain and most to lose, but if you're a beatboxer you're pretty much locked in.

Actually had this issue with a digital effects pedal that had a looper built in. It kept throwing me off to the point I said fuck it and just bought a JamMan express XT. NOT TRUE, bro re “forced quantize”. Go to 3rd track edit page and set “measure” from “auto” to “free”. You can also disable “loop sync” on the same page. “...stupid is as stupid does”. 🙄

Hello friends I am a new MK2 owner trying to figure out how to set the tempo via the first loop recorded. Where is this setting found? I read the manual and it seems to indicate that the tempo is decided before the first loop. Surely this is not true. The foundation of the MK1 was the ability to set tempo via first loop

Too late, already got it. Did you update the firmware with the November update? Did you read the manual? You have done the update And/or read the damn manual. There are more options for your loops that are in the manual. Don’t u remember customizing ur og 505? There are some serious probs with the mk1, too. You just forgot what it was like when you first started. I think you need to go thru the Manual, dude. . .including the Parameter Guide. Brex was saying the same thing right as u right after he got his mk2 - then, 2 weeks later, he jamming like on it like crazy. Go ahead, get a Headrush or an EHX 95000. Have fun.

Thanks for this dude. Still cant even get them in the UK and I refuse to pre order. Some love it some like you and Brez dont. Beardyman was part of the development team and he has a complex brain. that could explain the lack of user friendliness. The Mk1 had some issues when new and only 1 effect at a time but it was totally fine. I only had one or two major issues in many years performing with it and I will never seel my two MK1´s until im sure they can be replaced.. You are right they ditched the user friendliness and re worked their idea of looping. Whats the facebook page you mention?
