Marvel's Spider-Man[a] is a 2018 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man, it is inspired by the long-running comic book lore series adaptations in other media. In the main story, the super-human crime lord Mister Negative orchestrates a plot to seize control of New York City's criminal underworld. When Mister Negative threatens to release a deadly virus, Spider-Man must confront him and protect the city while dealing with the personal problems of his civilian persona, Peter Parker.
Gameplay is presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on Spider-Man's traversal and combat abilities. Spider-Man can freely move around New York City, interacting with characters, undertaking missions, and unlocking new gadgets and suits by progressing through the main story or completing tasks. Outside the story, the player is able to complete side missions to unlock additional content and collectible items. Combat focuses on chaining attacks together and using the environment and webs to incapacitate numerous foes while avoiding damage.
Development of Spider-Man, the first licensed game by Insomniac in its then-22-year history, began in 2014 and took approximately four years. Insomniac was given the choice of using any character from Marvel's catalog to work on; Spider-Man was chosen both for his appeal to the employees and the similarities in traversal gameplay to their previous game Sunset Overdrive (2014). The game design took inspiration from the history of Spider-Man across all media but Marvel Comics and Insomniac wanted to tell an original story that was not linked to an existing property, creating a unique universe (known as Earth-1048) that has since appeared in novels, merchandise, and comics.
Spider-Man was released for the PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018. The game received praise for its narrative, characterization, combat, and web-swinging traversal mechanics, although some criticized its open-world design for lacking innovation. A number of reviewers called it one of the best superhero games ever made, some comparing it favorably to the Batman: Arkham series. It won several year-end accolades from a variety of gaming publications, critics, and game award ceremonies. Spider-Man became one of the fastest-selling games of the year, one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time, and the fastest-selling superhero game in the United States. A three-part downloadable content (DLC), Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps, was released monthly from October to December 2018. A Game of the Year edition was released in August 2019, including the DLC. @@its.me.jack1216 Depends what you want, RDR2 has an amazing story, the gameplay mechanics are incredibly fluid and fun, you get a lotta choice in how you look and what you use in terms of weapons and shit, the missions are varied and fun, and finally the multiplayer while not as robust as GTA5, is still a lotta fun at least for a few days, where as Spider man has an incredible story, the Peter Parker in it is well written and true to his lore, but the gameplay can get a lil repetitive which isn't a bad thing if you enjoy the missions and side missions already, so that being said both are amazing, it just depends what you wanna do!!....

It's funny how everyone's saying "OMG RAY TRACING OMG OMG". It's noticeable if you stop and pay attention to those details, but if you're playing a game like normal, you're not going to notice those details for the most part because you're focusing on playing the game. The only selling point with this new generation of consoles is the faster loading times thanks to ssd.(finally, ssd has been around for YEARS, could have even been in the previous gen consoles).

When you play a game that has time based lighting, or daylight to night-time as you play it adds so much more to the realism. In a GTA game they had day into night into morning and the sky looked amazing. They did a insanely good job with the sun, the reflections, the morning "dew" and the evening sundown. It's not a be all end all feature but it does make it more realistic looking.

@@Gelo116 I see the standard PS5 doing 8k 30fps because the console has been out for 2 years now and 8k support or games still isn’t available yet on the 5. And 4k 120fps will run on the PS5 with frame drops. While with the PS5 Pro it will be able to run 4k120fps more smoothly than the PS5 but also checkerboard a higher definition looking 8K at 60fps but it wont be solid. But 8k 60 is definitely a jump from 8k 30fps. And im just assuming this based on the PS4 Pro lineup because we both know that the standard PS4 and slim do 1080p 60fps max with frame drops and the PS4 Pro does a upscale to try to reach 4k by checkboarding at 1440p 60fps max and true 4k 30fps max

Big difference is softness of the shadows and overall sharpness in game versus pc. I compared them both and the PS5 never manages to output natural 4K. I have the impression that it's always and at all times during gameplay downscaled to 1440p or 1080 with upscaling taking away the imperfections. Still looks good though. But the PS5 is slowly starting to show it's age in terms of processing power.

@@Cahn2126 This kind of argument doesn't hold up considering the extra costs a console has which pc doesn't. The graphics performance of a ps5 is equivalent to that of an rtx 3060. I managed to configure a 3060 pc with a 5600X, 16 gigs of DDR4 3600, operating system and monitor for around 1200 euros. I'll be spending 800 euros with the same monitor or 1500 total if I play it on a 4k TV screen which is what ps5's are being played on as well. Still, you need to spend a boatload on subscriptions and all that nonsense for online gaming. On top of all that, PC's are workstations. In the long run, a console isn't going to save you jacksht and in some cases you'll spend more. Consoles are good for convenience and exclusives but not for a price to performance edge. Nowadays a console is just good for convenience considering sony exclusives come to PC. Almost forgot to mention but with second hand pc parts, you'll definitely be able to match a 500 dollar ps5 if you want to compare direct price to performance.
