It sad people get so upset about the truth. Can't say anything these days about nothing cos they're too sensitive. A lost generation. And I feel she said it out of love, no condescending, no uppity tone. I'm 59 yrs old and still learning buy these young folks don't want nobody to say anything about anything. This generation under me will be so lost. But we all had teachers to teach us things and we respected their opinions. People always comparing the things we do with what white people do and I don't know why. The topic was not bout white but about us. I read comments if the white people did this..... but she was speaking on us and she was not making a comparison. Let them folks do what they do and let us do what we need to do. I'm with Ms. Monique. So much can be said. The problem is we don't have real Big Mommas. We have grandmother's at age 30, when we know better we ought to try to do better. Thanks my sister/QUEEN!!!🙏🏾👍🏾❤

I love Monique she did speak the truth, but she serves as an example also, I did not like what she said about Oprah and Tyler during her comedy skit. Her language was disgusting and degrading. When kids see that, if Monique can say those things can’t be any worst than wearing bonnets , slippers, and pajamas in public. So Monique please check yourself first. But, I still love you. 🙏🏽

@Happy Love It appears you need something to do using this woman's unshaven legs and robe as a defense to normalize the fresh out of drool attire people so pointlessly are rising up on. If businesses told yall to take the bonnets off to enter the establishment, you'd snatch yours and someone else's off. But someone inside the community addresses the issue and you look to unshaven legs and a bathrobe to argue against looking respectable and decent in the public. People marched in suits and dress shoes for the civil rights and social injustices and the best you can do is become a termite in a solid foundation of excellence to tear it down so you don't have to rise up. Thank God for those that didn't just mind their business but made the future of our people their business. Thank God for those simply walking in grace and integrity with full knowledge of the fact that we represent each other. It's not too much to ask, yall have just applied more value to things that devalue you.

U Can't MAKE Class or Buy Class as the NO CLASS CRIMINAL TRUMPS & TRASHY KARDASHIANS HAVE PROVEN but I Concur 100% with Mo'Nique. My mom Didn't go out of the house looking. Any kind of way & her kids couldn't either. Monique's statement Came From A PLACE OF LOVE. I COULD CARE LESS WHAT OTHER RACES THINK BCUZ THEIR EXPERIENCE IS NOT OURS & They have NO MORAL COMPASS AS WE SEE WITH WHITE REPUBLI-THUGS, SO SCREW TRYING TO PLEASE A RACE THAT STILL SEEKS TO OPPRESS OUR BEAUTIFUL STRONG PEOPLE. I DO HOWEVER, LOVE & RESPECT MYSELF ENOUGH TO WALK WITH MY HEAD HELD HIGH & WALK PROUD LIKE THE NUBIAN QUEENS GOD MADE US TO BE & ON THOSE HEADS, OUR CROWNS MADE STATEMENTS, WHEREAS SHOWER CAPS MAKE A MOCKERY. Females going to stores in Pajamas & shower caps are akin to Males looking Stupid with underwear showing as pants are almost on the ground. Our TRUE History BEGAN IN THE BIBLE AS KINGS & QUEENS, Not in AmeriKKKa as Slaves. That's what they want u to think.. We Must Act like it & Teach Younger Generartionns the TRUTH about THEIR ROYAL LINEAGE WHO RULED EGYPT & WERE GREAT HEBREW WARRIORS. One of our neighbors ( an old lady) called me over and told me "get that comb out if your hair, you know that makes you look like you just got out of bed doing something you have no business doing, and it's not ladylike to be walking around like that. Its disrespecting yourself", so I did and at the time I didn't understand what she meant, but it didn't take me long to understand. Instead of always thinking someone is in your business, or trying to tell you what to do, just listen and pay attention. Wise words are never lies. Think about your daughters. Respect is key. I was a youngster when the Jheri Curl came out,but I will never forget seeing guys and girls out in public places wearing those plastic caps on their heads, and it looked ghetto as hell! That's what this new trend reminds me of,people who don't take pride in their appearance! And then society judges the entire black community based on what they see some of us do! These girls need to " REPRESENT" correctly, because like it or not they can either knock down the negative stereotypes they have of us,or perpetuate them!

Your appearance says a lot about you and first impressions, speaks volume, for what a person sees first is what they will think about you. True story, I was sitting in the mall watching people go by when two young girls stopped in front of me having a conversation, one of the young ladies had bright blue hair spike with tattoos and piercing, suddenly a man walks up to them and asked if they wanted to buy a Rock CD's he was selling, he look just as they did, piercing everywhere tall spike hair, like a Rock star. They looked at him strangely before replying, "NO", when the man walked away one of the young ladies looked at the other one and said, "What made him think we wanted to buy Rock music? It was their appearance because as I sat there watching them (and their conversation did not line up with how they looked, I was surprised) my first impression was they were into hard rock, but as I listened to their conversation, they were talking about church and God, what you wear and how you dress can sometimes speak negativity about your character be careful what you wear, what you say and how you carry yourself, for what you see may not be who you are, God bless.

Just like I don’t want an elderly white man using his lived experiences through Jim Crow, civil rights and why we have to behave a certain way, etc. This is no different just because she’s black. We expected nothing other than her response.
