I dont know if anyone realized how many words she sings and memorized them all , plays at the same time....you know for sure this is passion and she wrote it as sth that comes from her heart to the society out there. How many people write with so much wisdom today...?

"Little children eat your bread..." Back in the day, when the old would speak everybody was quiet, ready to receive wisdom, and now it's like no one cares. The bread she speaks of, I believe is the word of God. As a woman in my 30s I have learned to be quiet when I hear wisdom. And this song takes me there!
@7loveyours73 жыл бұрын
Lauryn Hill was in some ways the Christian Hip-Hop before it got popular today. She spoke the truth and was persecuted for it. You don't hear artists today addressing issues with the lyricism and intent that Lauryn conveyed. She was ahead of her time!
@WasThisMail Жыл бұрын
Although her music does often incorporate religious themes it is by no means comparable to "Christian Hip-Hop ". At times her music is more Muslim than any other religion.
@Dbrah2022 Жыл бұрын
Muslim? Hahahahahahahahha
@7loveyours7 Жыл бұрын
@@WasThisMail Yea, I never said she was specifically CHH but in some ways, she was someone who helped open the door for CHH...herself and guys like Common, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, etc. They were artists who expressed their faith and beliefs in their music to some point and this was encouraging prior to CHH really taking off. Before today, 15 20 years ago, noone had any real idea CHH existed but I enjoyed these artists because of their consciousness at times and this is my point.

She was singing about Zion and mostly aligned with Rastafari as far as I was gathering. Lupe is definitely Muslim. Spiritual hip hop might have been better wording.

My first time listening to this....I'm breathless with chills!!! Although 5 yrs old, it's speaking to the hearts of America and the souls of black folks... Georg Floyd , Ahmaud Arbery, Daunte Wright, and all the known and unknown mistreated by the injustice system. The beauty in it all, it was done without vulgar and profanity. From a spiritual aspect...this was PHENOMENALLY written🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏

When I was younger I released a hip hop album. Was quite good and received well. However, I stopped. I stopped because I realised I'd never reach the heights of some of my favourite artists and would rather pay my respects as a fan and stay humble. 99.9% of you jokers calling yourself artists in the hip hop game right now take note.
@toneymackismtv26365 жыл бұрын
Interesting... I was a hip-hop artist once upon a time and was pretty good too if I may say so. I was gonna release an album with my group on Capitol Records, but things didn't work out because of internal issues surrounding the path We all wanted to take outside of music. Today I'm glad that Our group never made the deal official because some of My favorite artists are so good to Me that I feel I would never reach the level of dopeness they are at and/or have been. I say all that to say, I feel you 💯

I don't understand why she chose not to sing the rest of the song. Every present day version that I've found is missing the rest of the song as we originally heard on the unplugged 2.0 album! Does she feel differently about the rest of the lyrics or is it a compromise for some reason unknown to the public? Without the, "Repent and let your mind be re-taught. You'll find what you sought was based on the deception you bought. A perception of naught. Where the majority remains caught loving a lie. Not realizing in Adam, all die" it seems watered down! I'll always love Lauryn Hill as an artist and child of God but we should always keep in mind that she's just a person and "To God be the Glory". The greatness is not of ourselves but by the Holy Spirit that works through us!!!!
