She was pregnant when she made miseducation, and being pregnant makes your voice change. She could hit higher notes because of her pregnancy back then, but she a hard time singing them afterwards because her voice is naturally deeper. She actually damaged her voice quite a bit because she tried so hard to sing those same notes that were outside her range, but she’s still a great singer regardless. That’s common with performers like Adele, or Beyoncé for example, who can’t hit certain low or high notes after their pregnancies.

My mom loves to sing and was a soprano but after 3 more kids I notice her voice is lower and kinda husky. My brother was in our choir and used to sing bass. He got really sick once and had to do voice surgery... he cant go as low anymore. Lots of stuff can alter the voice. Ms. Lauryn Hill still sounds great though!
