As a Pakistani girl, this episode kept bringing tears to my eyes. I don't even know why. It was not really THAT emotional but for some reason seeing cultural references and songs in the MCU was too overwhelming. Representation MATTERS!

I myself and apparently so many others were getting emotional during the scene where their sitting and he's telling her that she can save the world and what not, and I felt myself getting emotional and I had no clue why. And I'm not even a super get emotional person. It was so strange. I guess because the girl who plays Kamala feels so real and genuine.

I gotta say, despite all the blatant sexism and narrow-mindedness of other creators/marvel fans, I love the open and deep conversations this show is starting to encourage. That's when you know a show is quality, they are really portraying the Pakistani culture in such an well-made and honest fashion alongside an entertaining story, a great protagonist and charismatic actress. That's all I wanted and I'm really happy with what we've gotten so far. Hope it keeps up! 👊🏽⚡

The reason Kamala's parents are so against her love for superheroes and fanfics is that because she's usually so immersed in that stuff that she rarely thinks about other stuff, like, normal life stuff, like her academic life. And they're very strict, old fashioned parents; that's just how they are. In the comics, they wanted to introduce her to a pakistani guy thinking about her marrying him in the future, because they couldn't even imagine her dating an american guy lol. They also had some problems with her older brother marrying an american girl.

This was a very cute pilot episode. It made me happy. This seems like something I can watch with my brown nephews and nieces. Sure, it's not Bucky going Winter Soldier on people like we saw in Madripore -- but Marvel on Disney+ is big enough for lots of different types of Super hero shows. This is encouraging.

The fantasy she is afraid of sort of relates to the grandmother which I think they will talk about later on. Kamala´s mom mentioned her grandmother living in a world of fantasies even when she took the box (with the bracelet) from her. Also, yes they can be overbearing with the directed path they see for her, but they really just want the best for her. However, she is amazingly talented, but it also seems like she hides that part away from her parents because they think its nonsense. I hope she will be able to showcase her talent to them more. This was a great first episode and I'm excited for the rest of the series!

You’re surprised that immigrant parents who are obviously weary about a lot of things in modern American culture don’t think of content creation or graphic design as a viable source of income? You keep saying why don’t they get she can make content, these parents have no idea what content really is, or possible streams of income. They want their kids to get married fast, and have great paying traditional jobs. It’s a credit to you guys, but maybe y’all don’t see how absolutely rare it is to have the level of success you guys have. And for parents that grew up in Pakistan decades ago? They’re going to think you’re playing around like kids. I read all the volumes of Kamala's "Ms. Marvel" and this is great! The core essence of her character and story were masterfully translated into this series. I really, really loved the references to the comics they inserted in the show! Specially during the credits lol. There are just so many things they could do with this series, specially if they go for a 2nd Season. I just wished they kept her original polymorph powers, but, oh, I still loved it!
