Tyler the creator shows how far creativity can take you when you learn the basics of your craft. A lot of producers think they can skate through without learning any instruments or basic music theory but your creativity needs that solid ground.

uhhhh I think he just listens to a lot of good music and tries to replicate what he likes and make it his own. haven't ever heard him talk about the value of music theory or learning an instrument in a traditional way. in fact I think he's talked extensively about how untrained of a singer he is despite how much singing he likes to do on his projects. you might just be reading into how comfortable he looks playing a keyboard and associating that with people who get that comfortable through traditional outlets. 🤷♀
