Tyler Okonma, better known as Tyler, the Creator, is one of today's most influential rappers, producers, and creative minds. From early projects such as Odd Future, to his most recent album (Call Me If You Get Lost), to his collaborations with brands like Converse, to Golf LeFleur, his high-end fashion line... it certainly seems that Tyler does it all and has no plans of stopping. Everybody can take some nuggets of wisdom, and motivation from him.

Tbh it's bad to look for external validation anyways. No one actually understands you or the work you put in, and even if you're successful they'll reduce you down to the number of streams you have or whatever the equivalent is for a given medium. Just have to do what you love and do it for yourself.

Young folks need to understand this. The people who pressure you to do what they think you should do will not take any responsibility if that decision you made based off their opinion turns out to be bad advice. So take advice with that understanding and ultimately make the decision that's best for you.

Not gonna lie I'm pretty envious of how easily he shrugged it off. All I ever wanted as a kid was for others to like me and they never ever did. It fucked up, I'm 30 and it still fucks me up. Even though I've been staunchly myself and independent once I was nearing adulthood it never stopped hurting. And there were still times since where I wondered "God why won't they just like me?"
@herbatabiaa9986
@herbatabiaa9986 4 ай бұрын
Oh Gosh same. I'm 17, 18 in exactly 2 months. When I was a kid I used to be the most popular person in my class, kinda struggling with social cues or understanding other people, but everyone still loved me for my sense of humor, sympathy, curiousness about everyone and playfulness. I used to be a tomboy and spend a lot of time with boys, but for every boy I was friends with I had a great girl friend. Then in 4th grade my dad died and it just fked me up. I had friends, sure. But they wouldn't hang out with me outside school at all. I kinda went from this ,,main character" to filler friend, NPC in the background, second choice etc. I'm so glad I'm in high school now, I found people who understand me and even look up to me. I went from feeling like an outcast and believing I won't ever find anyone again to a leader of my friend group and us all loving and supporting each other. But this pain of not being understood in primary school and middle school still is inside of me. It doesn't hurt, but it's just impossible to forget. Like you were trying your best and it wasn't working, and it's just easy to move on, but so hard to forget. At the same time I'm worried I'm gonna struggle to make friends in the future as an adult, idk why. Also another thing I can say, maybe I'm young and it might sound funny cuz of that but I know one thing about myself that I think applies to a lot of other people as well: if you don't know how to be happy alone, without any friends, all by yourself, then you won't be happy surrounded with people as well.

People can only love you. If they like you theyre likely involving their ego or sex attraction. They either hate you love you or dont care. If they like you they see you as a thing to buy at Target. You remind them of what they want themselves to be seen as. Thats what like is. Its very surface level

Another tip: minimize your time on tiktok, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. instead of looking for other people thoughts or ideas, create your own. Do your research. Read shit. Learn something new. Find things that inspire you in the real world and offline, because a lot on social media is just trends that are super easy to hop on cus it’s hyped up. It takes a lot of time but that’s part of the process. A lot of people don’t take the time to know who they really are till they old. And the feeling u get when u finally really know what you love and value is amazing :D

I’ve had so much respect for Tyler and that feeling has grown over the last 12 years. I’m actually a little older than he is, but I have learned SO much from this kid; I struggled with bullying to the point that I was not functioning as an adult. I was severely traumatized. I absolutely discovered him at the right time: not only did I love his music, but he truly helped me reframe the way I saw the world and how I could function in it. I still struggle a lot- but I come back to videos of Tyler spitting nothing but truth and it helps me gain a much healthier perspective. It doesn’t hurt that he’s hysterical. I would love to sit with this kid of 5 minutes just to tell him what he did for me. I’ll always have respect for him. I know you’ll never see this, but thanks for everything Tyler. We love and appreciate you.

I’m a beginner photographer and filmer. I’m always worried about other people who are above me and I’m afraid of people not giving me a chance to express myself. Especially if it’s trash and you look up to these kind of people because you only got one shot. I only hope that one day someone is going to enjoy my mediocre ideas. It’s hard as a beginner to get started with what you’re doing. No matter what your craft is. Everyday people struggle with it. But the hardest part is getting someone to like what you’ve created. I love how Tyler explained that it’s okay to fuck up. Everyone is in the process of fucking up. I want people to know that there is less competition when you have you’re own style because people will come to you instead of someone else because people know what to look for and what you’re capable of. Good luck everyone and hope for success to everyone’s hearts and dreams❤

Here's the thing. How many people have to go around believing they are amazing and creative people to have just one of them to be make it. I mean, when you listen to Tyler, he makes it sound like if we follow our own paths we will all be happy and successful. Yeah, it worked for him. The people who follow their dreams while trying to be real and end up getting crushed tend to not get video montages made with their thoughts. They just leave bitter comments below. 😊

so people who don't see their own value, won't see the value in others. Either you learn to keep going, or you get convinced to stop.
