to simplify it for you guys: ms word: for word processing, creating professional reports, analytics, and professional documents. creating things like books that focus on utility rather than design can be done via ms word in design: for making magazines, story books, and books with more styling on it

Thank you Lisa. I agree with everything you said, except for your comment regarding pictures/images moving in Word. If one knows how to set it, it definitely stays in place.

Do you think it makes sense to use InDesign or something similar for mostly professional reports (20 - 30 pages on average) that have a lot of graphs etc? It seems that using Word with a lot of images is always a bit of a fight even for documents with standard layouts.

Y channel apparently there is not a single tutorial on internet for writing educational book that contains lot of diagrams, equations and graphs. Circuit diagrams are nightmare, if you are trying to do things professionally. You will encounter many small things that many software lacks when they are meant to be professional software.

Can we use indesign to make professionnal business plan?
@PrettyFabulousDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mouhamed: Technically, you can use InDesign to make anything but I would just stick with Google Docs or Microsoft Word to create a business plan since it doesn't need to be "pretty". Lisa

@@numessnumess9134 If you just want to make it look more, you don't need InDesign. Scribus is more than enough for making good looking business plan. Scribus is free and open source desktop publishing software. You can try Inkscape, GIMP, and Krita as free and open source alternative to Adobe Illustrator and Photohshop for good looking art works. Also look at Darktable as alternative to Adobe Lightroom for digital photos.

I have found that it's easier to make an ebook look decent in Microsoft Word. I just designed a print book in ID recently, but then went over and redid it (much more simply) in word for Kindle because it was SOOOO much easier than getting it ready for conversion / epub / mobi / etc. NOT impressed with how ID does that! Maybe I just need to learn it better - do you have any videos about ebook design?

@PrettyFabulousDesigns6 жыл бұрын
It really depends on where your final book output will be: Amazon Createspace, Amazon Kindle, Ingram Spark, Kobo.... each of those platforms has pre-defined margins and formatting directions that you can follow.

Images would only jump around if you're an amateur in Word. Also, drop caps are possible in Word. Good video but some info needs updating.
@PrettyFabulousDesigns6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can kinda sorta do drop caps in Word along with the whole text wrap around images and other formatting but it never works how it's supposed to and when I close and reopen documents or maybe add another character in somewhere in the document, it offsets the entire thing. If a new video with different information about the positive benefits of Word over InDesign were to be created, I would not be the one to do it since I've never had that experience with getting Word to do those things for me.

A key factor I believe is that InDesign is a FULL PROFESSIONAL design software, is not easy to use at all unless you are familiar with Adobe (Acrobat Reader does not count). The average MS-Word user would not be able to achieve any reasonable result with InDesign unless he/she is willing to spend hours in training (in addition to a minimum artistic view).

@@PrettyFabulousDesigns Yes, MS Publisher is outdated and poorly designed. It is difficult to output 4 color seperations for offset printing. If you need inexpensive Desktop Publishing software, please try Scribus.
