So when you set it to 15° advance, that is just the original timing? And 0° would be 15° ret?

Nice video and appreciated information. So I'm clear, if I want 36 degrees total timing with lockout distributor, I would set for example my initial timing on the distributor to say 21 degrees and once engine starts turn dial to 15?

It's actually the opposite of that. Set your distributer to your max desired timing, say 36 degrees. With the dial on 15 you will have the full 36 degrees. With the dial on 0 you will have 21 degrees. Hope this helps.

@@mbtecalley I'm considering this for towing with an old carbureted 350 and HEI. what actually moves the timing, is it a different special distributor?? I'm assuming it's all done through the box digitally.

@@xmo552 documents.holley.com/8680.pdf It works in conjunction with MSD digital 6 ignition box. If you click the link and scroll down, you'll find the wiring diagram for GM HEI. But yes, it happens in the box digitally. Nothing physically changes in the distributer. Hope this helps.

what supporting mods do you need or can you run this with just a exhaust,cam and rockers?

So it's a stock 400 block, 406 fully forged, full roller, 13.5:1, AFR aluminum CNC port matched heads, super Victor intake, holley ultra xp 750 e85 carb, th400, Ford 9", ladder bars.

@@mbtecalley I’m thinking of doing this to my fox it would be hella easier to use than actually adjusting the distributor I plan on running the stock 5.0 maybe stroked to 331 and a Anderson cam and rockers so I assume it’ll work well.
