Great series guys. I love these old crossflows. We used to play with them a lot back in the day. I still have a couple stashed away for nostalgia. Pardon my ignorance and I have great respect for your knowledge, I cannot recall, but aren't you suppose to offset the rear main seal to prevent leakage at the flush sections ? One part of the seal should sit deeper in the groove while the other side sticks out to eliminate potential leakage across the seam. This is what I've seen from other engine builders.

Love the orange top blue block 250s that came out in old falcons. They were work horses and you couldn't beat the 3 on the tree in my opinion 💪

I had a TE cortina with the 250 and single rail 4 speed as my first car. Nose heavy bugger but the torque made it a laugh. Even better after i put a Yella Terra head, 2 barrel holley and headers on it.

Couple of questions for you, why don’t you torque the main bolts from the centre out in a rotational manner? Also the oil squirters should face the camshaft shouldn’t they? I’m interested in what head your going to run with those flat tops because it’s very easy to put too much comp into a Xflow.

Ford donks from that era where pretty good , too much pollution control was their downfall as was most engines from 76 onwards until ECU,s did it better.
