I tried that plane 3 days ago for the first time and fell in love with it instantly but I kept falling down into the french alps because I lost power at high altitudes. This video helped me a lot, thank you.

Excellent video! Coincidentally, I’ve been looking to fly planes that have levers that do “happy dances” and it appears I came to the right place! Seriously, though, you’re vids are top shelf.

Have you seen the Toolbar Pushback add-on? Watching your taxi maneuver made me think of it. The nice feature is that you can plan your pushback, including turning, so it's really handy for when you've got to back out of your parking space and then immediately make a 90 degree turn.

4:19 I think the apparent discrepancy between the Weight & Balance panel and the fuel gauges is because the panel is showing US Gallons whereas the gauges are showing Imperial Gallons: 24 US Gallons is approx 20 Imp Gallons. Thanks for an interesting video!

You can remove that rattling sound when on the ground by tightening the yellow oil filter cap.

I have never known what is making this clicking sound. Will try it.

Ah, yes. Gently-gently on the brakes. Tried this one out tonight, landed successfully... and nose planted while taxiing off the runway. Whoopsydoodle.

having the mixture lever all the way back is normal for big radial engines. They fire on the primed fuel. When you feel that fuel is burned you push the mixture forward.

Nice video, thanks. I've been flying the seaplane version of the DHC-2 Beaver a couple of times and have enjoyed it. However, I have yet to figure out how to extend the landing gear if I want to land on a runway as the levers in between the the pilot seats don't seem to work properly. Starting on a runway the seaplane Beaver just floats above the runway without the landing gear extended...not real realistic, but fun still. Keep the videos coming and thanks for the POH.

I see that you keep the fuel pump on for taxi and runup. I think it is needed only for Take-off and Landing.
@PeterNGloor3 ай бұрын
Why do you hand crank the fuel pump when there is an electric pump? The manual lever is only for emergency.

maybe you will want to lean the mixture to expedite warm-up, as there will be less cold fuel entering the cylinders.

How things have changed, in the old days the pilot "learns" the aircraft and flies. Now we use GPS and all the electronics etc flying tolerances are MUCH more strict. GREAT flight! !! !!!

@P GatComb the beaver yaws violently to the right when I cut the throttle upon landing during the landing roll. Any suggestions?

Maybe bring the max prop speed down- maybe there’s too much torque from the slow spinning prop-

Actually it would be tolerable if you just spoke more slowly and paused between sentences. Otherwise you risk sounding like Donald Duck after inhaling nitrous oxide.
