The A310 ships with SU11 for PC and Xbox, and the Enhanced version is available on the MSFS Marketplace for PC.

Although this video features the A310, the same procedures can also be used for the A300. To get the most from this tutorial, please watch it *before* you fly! Pause and take notes along the way, rewatch sections as necessary until you're comfortable, *then* fly the airplane using the notes/checklist that you created :)

Great video! I love it how you manage to explain the basics of a full flight in 8 Minutes while other channels need 30 to 60 Minutes of explaining how to configure a plane for a cold and dark start, a departure or an approach.

Thanks, I always aim to get the basics across quickly so people can just go fly :) The other channels serve a purpose for those who want to get more in depth, but I’d wager that most folks (especially those on Xbox) would rather spend more time in the air than on the ground (or watching extended “how to” videos).

Completely agree. The irony is that cold 'n' dark tutorials aren't even that useful because the sim checklists will literally show you what to do for almost every aircraft. And if you go on the forums and admit that you don't care about a C&D start and just want to start on the runway, they scorn you as if you had suggested molesting a goat or something. I LIKE starting on the runway and I don't care if that's heretical.

Ive followed everything you've done in this video, flight plan, weights, the whole lot. And the plane doesn't catch the glide slope, or when it does catch the glide slope, the wheels touch the runway the plane goes into toga and proceeds to take off before the front wheels touch the ground. And i have followed everything you did in this video.

Idle the throttle when you hear the “retard” call-out and it won’t go around. I think also you may be approaching the glide slope too high, but please feel free drop by the discord in description and post a video so I can diagnose

I always pre-set the NAV button, yet it always goes to whenever the plane wants and not the route. I noticed that in the outside view, when the HUD pops up and I can see the compass, the plane tends to follow a blue mark instead of the purple one it needs to follow.

That does sound like heading mode instead of nav. Does the PFD say NAV or HDG?

Yup just move the camera around using the default camera controls (they’re listed in the Sim Options) and set up your preset views (Ctrl Alt + Num)

As a minor detail on FCU, I vaguely remember reading somewhere inibuilds said that cost index doesn't work right or something? To leave at default, zero, or 40. Why, I dunno? Anyone else remember? It gets confusing when I fly over 30 diff planes in sim, and some auto land ILS airliners all have different quirks that work as intended/or dont...then with so many different updates all the time, I can't keep up on which small instrument glitches were rectified or made worse. I mean on gross level it works fine, but for fine tuning, trying to do it real to life- it gets so hard sometimes keeping up with inconsistencies!

Yeah you can get away with not doing it. It won’t let you go to that page once the engines are on / from a runway start anyway. If you do cold and dark, again you don’t have to enter them, but if you do you’ll get more accurate fuel and weight predictions enroute.

Hi ! I have similar issues with Ceejay and dubbed 990. After I take off, turn on autopilot with NAV mode, it follows the first and second waypoint in the flightplan. However it does not follows the flightplan while flying to the third waypoint, it just fly straight. I tried what Ceejay wrote in his comments, and it’s not working. Even when I press DIR on the FMS and choose Direct to the next waypoint, it still fly straight. There is no discontinues in flightplan, I feel quite confused about this……

@@TiJayFLY Finally I found out how to solve this problem . Some people raised the same issue in inibuilds' forum. The moderator account in this forum give us a solution, which is turn off auto-rudder, assisted yoke, AI-auto trim, and assisted controller sensitivity in the assistance options. After turn-off these functions , this plane can precisely follow the flight plan. Cheers !🍻

It should still follow it, but it will shout LANDING GEAR at you the whole way down. Failure to intercept and follow ILS is likely caused by something else.

One question: Isnt it possible to start from a runway without a SID? Or what am I doing wrong? I set up the flight plan, everything looks fine but when I took off and enable the AP with NAV-Mode etc (Nav is also shown in the PFD) it doesnt follow the flightplan. But when I press DIR on the FMS and chose Direct to my first waypoint after take off it starts flying to the waypoint. Once it reached the waypoint, it starts following the Nav-Route without problems. Where is the mistake?

Short answer yes it is possible, long answer is it can be a little picky with direct departures. I believe this is prototypical behaviour for Airbus. Direct arrivals are generally fine though.

@@TiJayFLY Thanks for your answer. I never had problems with direct departures in the A320 or PMDG 737 so I was wondering...Is it a normal behavior for the 310 or is the direct departure not the real problem? This is really annoying but I will try a SID tomorrow.

@@HELERsx it could just be the way the systems are implemented in the sim, I’m pretty sure iniBuilds uses their own LNAV code. This may be better answered by someone on their forum or Discord etc :)

Suppously this is an study level aircraft, and remember that the A310 is a very old aircraft, the systems that this aircraft have are crap compare to relative modern aircraft like the a320 or 737, so the navigation system is different with the a310.

Hit your hardware AP disengage key (you can configure a hotkey) or the red button on the yoke to silence the warning

@simplytheworstx are you changing nav source to ILS before hitting LAND? It’s the toggle switch below the FD. @whiffy this sounds like your speed is too low for your config/airplane weight.

Usually an incomplete FPLN or INIT page. Check your flight plan route is complete end to end with no discontinuities.

@@TiJayFLY Yes the switch is on NAV, there's a FP in FPLN, there was one discontinuity that I cleared, I'm not sure about the manual or VECTOR waypoints.I guess the flight plan from the world map could be a pb. I was flying LELN-LEMD, RWY23, SID ZMR1H23 and at destination LEMD, ILS32LW, ZMR4A-18L, ILS f of 109.90 and course 323deg. What I did is exactly flew your route and everything worked just fine, no issues in route following or autolanding. But one thing i quite strange, it gave 5000ft the last altitude as compared too your FPLAN which was 2400ft, but the good thing is that it works just fine now. Thankyou so much once again for the video and the help.

If we were doing perf calculations, for sure. This video is just a quick start guide to get new players flying without anything too complicated. Once they’ve learned the basics and had a successful flight, they can get into all that stuff with longer, in-depth videos from other creators :)

Some error in your config - it’ll disable if something isn’t set up right. Check FMC flight plan and INIT page is complete.

They traditionally are. Some planes are worth it, because they're not like normal DLC - they're high quality simulations of actual aircraft and systems. Others are just taking the p*** with their pricing, so make sure you watch reviews before buying anything :)

From a runway start, the instruments are all powered down and there is no electrical power, but the engines are powered on. Edit: There is electrical power but the instruments are dead
