Have just gotten into Flight Sim, the new rig arrived about a month ago and have everything configured / integrated and working great. Have been studying through VATSTAR and pased my written exam. Since then, working on circuits in the 152 and very anxious to try out VATSIM as I want to fly on the network. Your videos have been great tool in getting ready to sign onto the network! As a side note, if you are ever looking for work you can always apply as a tour guide somewhere, you have the voice and annouciation for it! Makes your videos a joy to watch.

Nice. In MSFS2920 I fly KSNC to 42B quite often. I agree I'd wish the bridge looked like it does in real life.

I would like to ask some questions that haven't been cleared up to me in this video. Otherwise, really good stuff, I am currently using this to try and get into VATSIM: 1. You stated that you had around 1700' of clearance before "the ceiling". What is this ceiling? According to Skyvector, Goodspeed is located in 700'AGL class E airspace surrounding Chester airfield, which is itself untowered, giving you far less than 1700' before entering said class E. Even if you did, my understanding is that class E is uncontrolled for VFR flights and you would not need to report to the non-existent tower. Looking at Skyvector, I fail to find the number "17" anywhere on the map within this region. 2. You reiterate the name of the airfield a second time, at the end of each radio call: "Goodspeed traffic, Red64 on downwind rwy 32 Goodspeed". I have never heard this done in radio recordings. Is this necessary for this airport? If so, where can I find such exceptions in the future?

Im unfamiliar with FAA and US airspace so I wont answer 1. However for 2, it is important (but not required) to repeat what aerodrome you're adressing on UNICOM. This is just to prevent any confusion in case your mic didnt pick up your first words. It's strange but eventually you'll make it a habit on vatsim.

Thanks. Very good video. You could improve this beginning experience by flying the same pattern work on Vatsim with a few friends logged in with their aircraft and scenery so you can hear their comms on 122.8. it also gives you something to avoid crashing into etc.

This was a good video, however a question about radio calls. It always seems to me (as a non pilot) that people sacrifice clarity for speed when calling in. It's almost as if people are saying "look at me I'm so cool and on top of things". If I was a new pilot I'd prefer people to slow down a notch so that I could be sure of the correct information. I wonder just how often people say the wrong thing or pick up on the wrong information due to the speed they're talking, especially when you factor in the sketchy radio comms you get in certain atmospheric conditions.

yea as a newcomer to vatsim, I think it is just a matter of experience.

I have a question regarding the real world weather. You mentioned it several times in your Vatsim related videos and I'd like to know if the built-in "real weather" is sufficient or you need some other tool for it. And if so, what kind of tool would you recommend.

The MSFS built-in real world weather is sufficient, I am pretty sure as I use it and nobody has mentioned anything wrong with it and the wind and clouds that ATIS says matches my screen. The ATC probably uses the same source as MSFS.

Sadly no. I own both and the 152 in MSFS had CTD constant. I sacrifice the stunning scenery for the diagnostic path tracking tools, replays, and flight model feel in XP which are very important for beginners.. MSFS or XP choice depends on if real worl pilot in trainiing or hobbyist. I use both, but on Vatsim I use XP exclusively because MSFS has too many CTD. Hint: I would just skip over 152 and go to 172sp with analog 6 pack 430/530 or G1000 jglass ust like Embry Riddle U training program. you don't have to know gps to fly vfr and pattern work.

of course, simming doesn't give seat of pants "feel" and you were talking and flying (BTW, very difficult) explains why you pitched up on dw to base turn and got really slow without adding power or pitching down. I mention this for other sim pilots to see if they noticed. I can tell you are very good pilot. No offense.
