Awesome! Your video helped me to get things sorted for the G2 controllers, thanks. To improve upon your settings: after hours of testing and discovering a persistent bug when using the trigger to interact with the G1000, I'd recommend here to completely unbind "VR - COCKPIT INTERACTION - RIGHT" and "VR -...- LEFT" from ANY controller button (just leave these blank) and instead bind the trigger to "COCKPIT INTERACTION - PRIMARY". This solves a great deal of problems that may occur where the secondary and tertiary button would not function after trigger was first used on the G1000. Also the controllers work now more like the mouse buttons would and thus making the controllers more compatible for custom cockpits as well.

Thank you so much for posting this. Another important setting that is often overlooked at first is the Toggle Raycast button. I also like the Press to hold for the yoke. That setting doesnt affect throttle or button presses. Question. Is there any possible way you could do a video planes with/without VR controller support and is there any way to find out if a Marketplace item has VR controller support?? Thank you 2020 fs'ers

Thanks for the comment .. I'm not sure if the marketplace aircraft tell you if they support vr controllers or not. I don't have most of the aircraft on marketplace because I don't really focus on reviews I'm not good at that. Lol

There may be a key bind for that similar to an Xbox controller in the sim . I'm not sure what it is at the moment .

Great video, thanks! Up until now, I haven't bothered with the hand controllers in MSFS but with the PMDG 737 released, I did feel I missed a hand controller to manipulate everything on the OH panel etc. After following your tutorial, things seem to work really nice in the PMDG 737 using the hand controller. Did notice some issues (not due to your assignments I'm sure but probably how VR has been implemented in the PMDG 737) such as not being able to manipulate the covers over the battery switch, emergency exit lights etc. I also struggled a bit with the GPU switch where it felt a bit like a lottery if it would go up or down. Wasn't able to use the thumbstick even when it is a 3 position switch. Maybe what makes it special is how it's spring-loaded to always return to the middle position. Next thing I'll do now is to see if I can find a similar tutorial how to make best use of your hand controller in external view. Would be awesome being able to do a proper walk around. Or at least, being able to pan around and zoom in/out in the same way you can with the mouse.

Yeah the vr controls are still wonky in msfs some switches you need to use the trigger and other the joystick . Thanks for the comment im happy this helped you .

It's a strange thing. In Xplane I was always using the controllers, but with MSFS taking so long to incorporate the controllers, I just got used to the mouse.

How to bind or map throttle? In default we have to force it by pointing controller towards it. Is there any way to bind key with it?

Sure just search throttle in the key bindings and depending on of its an axis or a button will dictate what throttle setting you use .

Yes you can fly planes with the g2 joysticks and no external joystick . You just need to Map the buttons correctly .

It is so frustrating that FBW or Fenix have not managed to synchronize the thrust lever to this day. With VR controller it is not possible to operate the thrust lever reasonably. You can only operate one lever of the two at a time. This makes a flight impossible 😢

Yep I have had the knobster for a couple years now I will be doing a video on the fsknob application soon but more importantly I'll do a demo on how to create your own code for the knobster as in the list for knobfs it only has basic functions and I'll show how to set it up with the kap140 and others .

I love the game in VR. Oculus Quest 2.......but how do I completely disable touch controls? Disable hand tracking? I want all but the headset used for view to be gone forever.

I actually have two questions the first is do I set the second vr controller the same as the first one also I am trying to do evaluation mode so it shows me where everything is so I can do it manually myself but when I do it automatically completes for me I don’t want it to do that why does it do this?

Hey pal! are you having any issues with the controllers now? my Hp reverb g2 controllers just stop acting on knobs and swtiches , they just happened after updating the new Airac ( stranged wierd thing) cheers!

@@2020fsers Found a solution , but i dont know why doing this its solved the issue , let me paste it here, just in case it can help to another user 1 Open Mixture Reality 2 turn on the controllers 3 open steam and run Flight simulator 4 go to mixture reality setup / headset display /experience options 5 Switch to Best Visual quality 6 go back to flight simulator 7 put your HP headset , CTRL TAB , mouse click on any knob till it appears the blue interaction highlight, 8 grab your VR controller and you will be able to interact with the cockpit again 9 go back to mixture reality portal and turn experience options to Optimize for perfomance again.

I wish there was an option to make the hand controllers "capture" a knob or three-way-switch, like the magneto switch in the Cessna. Right now, you have to constantly point at the switch and rotate the controller at the same time. Awful. It would be great if the switch or knob stayed selected as long as you hold down the trigger and then rotate without having to point at it. Or is there already a way to achieve this behaviour?

With these setting you can use the joystick to move the knobs . Use legacy mode

Hello How are the SPD, HDG, and ALT knobs on the A320's glare shield handled? I can rotate and manipulate numbers in both proximity and raycast modes, but I can't move the knob back and forth no matter what I do, pushing or pulling the controller. It doesn't work as a result. I have no choice but to pull out the mouse and click the top and bottom of the knob.

Just came back to MSFS and i was excited to see this but it just doesnt work for me, Have no idea what im doing wrong but the knob/switch will turn blue but thats it. I cannot move it or anything. Would love some direction to fix the issue.

Switch to legacy mode .. sometimes you need to use the mouse first for some reason then the squeeze button will function .

I use hardware to fly . I have a bravo and alpha and rudder pedals . And a gns 530 and a stream deck and knobster. I don't use controllers

I don't use a virtual keyboard . The only waybi know is if you press the windows icon on the controller but it also open the wmr tools and no longer is focused on the sim .

It should be there if its powered up .. maybe you need to be in vr for it to show.

Being a DCS and MSFS fanboy, MSFS control binding is embarrassingly terrible, especially in VR. It seems as though a 10-year-old created this part of the software. The click spot for the switches is very imprecise and all over the place, the mouse wheel control is very unresponsive and the control binding option is not well organized. Why didn't they use left and right mouse clicks to control switches, like right-click to flip the switch forward and left to flip it back, rather than having to hover your mouse pointer and pray that the switch will go in the right direction when you click. I love MSFS but they really dropped the ball in the one.

Msfs is not bad after i set up the controller . It's not great and it's up to the 3d party developers to.make sure that the aircraft they supply if optimized for vr and i will say some don't.

@@2020fsers I started to get the hang of it too but it’s still a pain knowing that it could’ve been easier. I mostly use PMDG planes so they are a little better. You just get taxed with massive fps drop tho.
