I noticed your engine rpm was > 5000. Probably why the motor blew up! Scary, but you did great bringing her down safely.

@@livingstones1196 that's what happens when you treat the sim like a sim instead of treating it like a real airplane. Not to mention I actually think flying the sim is more distracting than flying the real airplane... Which is actually great training!

Is your GPU or CPU thermal throttling? Doesn't seem that the FPS should dip that low.
@mcorrive1219 күн бұрын
@@briantheguy1 Neither is thermal throttling. CPU has an AIO. Temps on both are steady around 65 deg. I think the main issue my system has is the 5 monitors at 1080 each is 20% more pixels than a 4k monitor. Additionally I'm running all the background tasks. With my 7900X3D I have Process Lasso running MSFS on cores 0-5 and and all the background tasks on cores 6-11 but it seems like I'm bouncing between CPU and GPU limited at around 30 FPS at KLGA with a small custom GA Aircraft with dips down to 5-12 FPS. I did notice a couple days ago that my memory usage, according to the developer mode MSFS FPS monitor, is right up against the 31 GB limit (likely because of my 5 monitor setup). I just ordered two new sticks of 64 Gb RAM (2x 32) hoping that solves that, and hoping that bumping up against my memory limit is what's in fact causing my FPS dips. I should receive those sticks of RAM sometime next week to install and test. I see TechTesters on KZbin did a 9800x3d benchmarking video and in their 4k Ultra 40 Game Summary slide they show MSFS2024 averaged 54 FPS for them. Given this data, I would suggest that with 5 monitors pushing 20% more total pixels than a single 4k monitor, with OBS running, air manager, 2 popped out panels running with Pop Out Panel Manager, 4 webcams (3 for recording, 1 for face tracking), Avare moving map screen casted from my phone, OpenTrack/BeamEyeTracker all running, and SayIntentions ATC and an after market aircraft Sting S-4 add ons, I think 30 FPS is probably somewhere in the ballpark of where I'll end up with my current 7900X3D. If I could get it closer to the benchmarked 54 by TechTesters I'd be ecstatic... But I think I have just too many additional tasks running to come anywhere near that. And a reminder, I'm on High, not ultra settings.

Unfortunately that's just the state of MSFS2024 right now. I have a 9800x3d and 4090 and it gets extremely laggy when close to the ground on some landings. Buggy game, not ready for prime time. Hopefully it gets better.

@bs838 Thanks for the feedback! I just posted a detailed video with my performance and fps changes as I add all the different components of my home cockpit setup, starting from a stock single 1080p monitor. If nothing else, the community sharing this data is helpful to know what the max we can expect is. Just like 2020, I'm sure we'll see optimization improvements over the ge next couple years of Sim Updates. I'm not mad about it. This is what engineering and pushing the limits of hardware/software is all about! It's a little frustrating being the beta testers for 2 years, but I'd rather have the early release anyhow. So no complaints from me. 👍

5 monitor on 1 pc with multimonitor is not working good. Do nvidia surround on your 3 main onitors and you are good to go, but ull see some stretching images on sides. you can then exit fullscreen and shorten abit the window on both sides.

@mcorrive1219 күн бұрын
@@smiddy19801 100% And this is exactly why I built this simulator. To make myself a better real world pilot. How many times are we actually out there practicing this stuff. Especially when you only average 10 flights a year or so. Every simulator flight I get to think back, or if I'm recording I get to play it back and see where I messed up and could have done things better, so I'm learning from flying the simulator. I feel strongly that it's a tool well worth the time and money spent!

I'll add to that. When you're flying with an instructor and you're almost mentally prepared for him/her to pull back your power and announce "simulated engine failure". But when I'm flying to hr sim, and recording, and talking to an "audience" and focused on testing my frame rates and talking to AI ATC, I'm not at all ready for the engine to fail... Just like it would be in real life! So in my eyes, it's a more realistic simulation of how I would react to a real world failure compared to rehearsing it one every two years with an instructor pilot besides you. I actually get to practice flying while task saturated or distracted.
