Thank you for the clear instructions. This was part of an assignment that wasn't very well explained by the class itself, so following such a clear and comprehensive tutorial probably saved my grade. Great job!

Nice Video - you didn't do an authoritative restore of the database though - you specifically restored the DB non-authoritative and then used NTDSUTIL to the objects you wanted to authoritatively restore only the object(s) you wanted. Very nicely done. what if the object had linked attributes? e.g. a group membership. Would that be restored too? what if your Active Directory only had One (1) Domain Controller in the forest? Is the NTDSUtil part necessary?

Hello my friend. I just want to thank you for these tutorials. Please consider slowing down on quick actions because you have a little bit of an accent and it can be hard for native speakers of English to understand until we've thought about it. Also we will need to see what you are doing so slowing down a little is helpful. Thanks for your great videos.

Hi, have to perform a DR drill where we to test non & authoritative restore for our only domain controller in test domain that runs in vmware vcenter Can you share steps or cautions needs to be considered to move ahead with it
@MSFTWebCast3 жыл бұрын
If you have only one domain controller in your domain then there will be only normal restore. Authoritative and Non-Authoritative restore will applicable if you have two or more domain controller.

@@MSFTWebCast Thx for response! Can you also share about how to proceed with this activity. Planning to create a clone of DC machine in vcenter & disable ( uncheck ) it's NIC to isolate machine from routable network to avoid replication / SID conflicts. Post that power on that cloned machine in DSRM mode & restore Ad database through backed up file. Pls let me know if I am missing any precaution or something also needs to be considered before activity. Or else pls share any best practice or other way around. Any response would be acclaimed
