I think boston was the team that really fucked up here, thay had 3 picks in a row and didnt even trade down. Barzal was easily BPA at the draft day. It is one thing when you have just 1 pick, if you do not pick the BPA if you like someone else better but when you have 3 in row, come on, what where they thinking? If they really didnt like him, they should have traded a pick out of those 3. Worse draft decension i have seen.

This is why NHL players rarely go broke once they retire. Meanwhile players from other sports, especially NFL, buy a mansion before their first check even clears. Barzal is one of many that wont need a coaching or broadcasting job once he retires.
@isabellegloutnay49836 жыл бұрын
NothingToPointOut24 because most NFL players were in poverty so the minute they got their check, they felt like they needed to buy everything. A bit différent for nhl players. Families had enough money to provide for everything in the house
@NothingToPointOut246 жыл бұрын
No doubt the way NHL players grew up was very different than the way NFL players did, but you'd think, or I think atleast, that growing up poor would make them respect money a little more. How a person can blow millions of dollars in a short amount of time is beyond me. You can live very nicely off of a those contracts without living above your head. Its the jewelry, 3rd and 4th cars, boats and $10,000 nights out that puts those guys in the poor house.
@threethrushes6 жыл бұрын
NHLers, in the main, are cut from very different cloths comparied to professional athletes in, say, American football, soccer, or basketball. They seem to be uniformly humble, grounded, down-to-earth, self-assured, dedicated, hard-working men. Another reason why I respect hockey culture.
