Huge thanks to you. Middle finger to the MSI designer who put the upgradable component on that side of the motherboard.

Thanks so much for making this video! My laptop kept crashing while using Adobe so I decided to upgrade the RAM and I’ve never even opened a computer before, but I followed your video carefully and I was able to do it!

Greate video! Thanks to you I was able to successfully install a second SSD in my MSI G65 and actually not damage anything. I really appreciated your clear explanations associated to camera closeups in the trickiest moments. Happy new year!

I needed this video. I have the exact model you made it on. Mine wouldn't power up when I reconnected the battery either. I think it forgot that it had a charge, and wouldn't start unless I had it plugged in. That said I only got part way into mine to upgrade the hard drive storage. Then I gave up frustrated. To this point I've only worked on Desktop PCs. Even lubricated a sink fan on a video card. The worst part is I only disconnected the power and speaker. The machine completely lost my PIN to log into windows, and I had to re-install windows. About an hour of troubleshooting, trying to get them to start, and one trip into BIOS and it suddenly was able to authenticate my pin. If anyone else is thinking of trying this, I discourage it personally as this is a task that is more difficult than you may be prepared for.

Thank You for the video. It gave me the confidence to do the job myself. I also am having the problem of the laptop overheating so I will need to either replace the fans or clean them and reapply the thermal paste and even though you didn't do a video on doing that for the G65, I did see one you did on the G63 and I think I will be able to utilize what I learned from that video to do the G65. My fan blades are caked with dirt and i will have to soak the fan blades in alcohol and maybe even use an ultrasonic cleaner to get the dirt off or I might just get new fans.

Thanks for the clear video. I upped the ram and swapped out the C M.2 drive for a bigger one. Your video made it all so easy to do.

Followed this video a while back to upgrade my SSD and RAM and it worked great! Followed it again to revert it back to stock to sell the laptop, but now the screen and keyboard don't turn on. External monitor receives no signal. I opened it up again and checked all the connections and everything looks and feels fine, but that's the most I can confirm. LED next to the power button turns on and i hear a fan start up but that's about it. Any ideas for what the problem might be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is almost the same laptop as p65 creator 9se. My has a static cover too. Keep it on and work around it. You need tweezers. Not sharp ones.

Hello....just wanted to know something regarding the RAM slots...My MSI GS65 Stealth thin 8RE has both 2400 and 2666 DDR4 RAM slots...as far as I remember, the default 16 GB RAM is at 2400 DDR4 slot...so in your video you used 2666 DDR4 for both the slots...will the 2666 work well on the 2400 slot? apparently by default all of the 16 GB is located at the 2400 slot, while there are two other 2666 slots available....what should I do if I decide to upgrade the RAM? Should I completely remove the 2400 one because it has slower clock speed and put two 2666 in the 2666 slots instead?

hi! i have the MSI p65 creator 8rf, basically the same computer of the g65, i'm going to add a ssd samsung evo970 plus, do you think i need a heatsink? like thin plate ones, do you think it fits? since I open it to add sdd, do you think it is worth doing also a ram upgrade? thanks

No heat sink for the ssd?

hey i just did this upgrade, tha ks for the guide! but i have a question: upon reassembling it, i wasnt able to run the speaker cables through the slots on the side of the battery because i accidentally ran them behind some of the cables on the motherboard. i was too lazy to unplug everything and free the speaker cable! so the speaker cables just run along side of the battery. will this be a heat hazard if they touch the battery?

I was going to buy upgrades for my computer but now I realize it's just not worth it going through all this. MSI design is the worse...

The design of this laptop is the most stupid one one can come up with!
