I purchased this same laptop but with the 16GB Opane /1TB HDD combo for $769 USD plus an additional $100 MIR on Newegg. My model came with 8GB DDR4-2666 so I added another 8GB DDR4-2666 stick and replaced the 16Gb Opane drive with a 500GB Crucial MX500 SSD. I have to say i'm very pleased with the results. The main things that attracted me to the laptop were the size and specs for the price, we're talking a 4.1lbs + .85 inch with an i7 for well under $999 USD. A few years ago Apple would have charged you $2500 for a laptop this size with far less power. The Dell G5 is a whale by comparison at the same price point.

Yes the games works flawlessly considering what you are expecting from a gtx 1050(I assume you are buying i7+gtx 1050). Assassins creed odyssey works great 1080p all setting high and adaptive anti-aliasing(30fps mode) with 150mhz overclock. I think there are better options if you only want performance like acer predator helios 300 and nitro 5 both have 1050ti with ssd(this dosent have one) and both quite heavy. But if you want a laptop with great performance and good battery live(5-6 hrs productivity) and small package I mean very small and light than other atleast right now. You could also wait for new laptop with next gen graphics.

Nice review man! I bought this laptop recently for about 60000 russian rubles (around 850$ american currently), and i'm pretty impressed with it. Intel i5 9300H is a HUGE CPU, it computes everything in seconds. The NVidia GTX 1050 TI Max-Q is pretty descent, the 4gb graphical memory are especially useful when comparing to standart 1050. It's not 1060, but it's still good. I got the 8-gb DDR4 module, with 512 .M2 SSD. Enoung for me. And there are extra slots for both operative and static memory, which is quite useful. U was playing Wither 3 with custom settings (somewhere around medium-high), with no fan speed boost, and i got pretty descent FPS around 50 i think. The only problem is cooling system. In games the CPU and GPU are pretty hot. I try to keep them not higher than 80 degrees, but not always successful. But consider that i didn't use cool boost: the notebook sounding like a launching spaceship scares my cat :) With it the temperatires OK, i believe. Overall, i like the two-fan notebook idea better. Problem number two: the wifi module is pretty weak and drops connection often. But if you are sitting on a wire -- no problem then. Conclusion: Really descent laptop for its price, especially considering it's from MSI. Like the screen and keyboard design.

For those who bought the new 1650 Max Q model, you can achieve mid 70s high 60s by doing the following: 1. Download Intel XTU and undervolt -0.140 2. For best cooling and louder fans use cooler boost in dragon center. For quieter gaming and very good cooling use advanced settings in fan speeds and adjust the fan speeds incrementally based on temperature. 3. VERY IMPORTANT: In battery power plan options change processor power management from 100 to 99 percent. This disabled Intel turbo boost which is useless and only adds 15 degrees to your system. 4. OPTIONAL but RECOMMENDED: thermal paste your system. It's easy to access the gpu and CPU for this system. 5. IMPORTANT: In Intel XTU disable Intel turbo short boost (this sends more power to your system overheating it and power throttling it) Unfortunately even through all this the system still power limit throttles but I get better performance, lower temps and quieter gaming.

Thanks for this video! Would the MSI GF63 with the i5 processor and 8gb ram be sufficient enough just for live streaming Live Interviews or Live Talk (with youtube via OBS) as opposed to streaming for gaming? Or do I need to upgrade to the 16 GB of ram for the talk/interview use?

I'm literally testing it right now. I had to buy it with my own money because Lenovo never got back to my messages. I did finally get in contact with someone, they asked for stats on my channel then never responded after I provided them, I guess the channel is too small for them to be interested.

@JarrodsTech6 жыл бұрын
Honestly not sure if the HDMI is connected to the Intel or Nvidia graphics, I didn't test it as I don't have any VR equipment. MSI list HDMI as 4K@30Hz which means it's only 1.3-1.4, does that meet VR requirements?
@OuiMimi6 жыл бұрын

Hmm might be just enough then, but annoying that many companies like MSI don't actually list the specific version, this is a very common problem.

Hey Jarrod. Thanks for all your videos. Is a gaming laptop still a good choice? Or desktop is better?
@reservoir_flow6 жыл бұрын
Depends what you're using it for fam. Desktops usually gibe better specs at the same price points as gaming laptops, but laptops offer portability and the inclusion of Windows and KB+M. If you live a relatively mobile lifestyle and can accept the limited upgradability, or don't have the space for a desktop, a gaming laptop is your best bet. If you have the space and don't need all that power on the go, getting a desktop and buying a cheaper used/ lower spec laptop will go a longer way.
@JarrodsTech6 жыл бұрын
I agree with Ibrahim, if you need portability then a laptop is your best option. If you don't need to take it anywhere then a desktop will be cheaper and give you better performance.
