Great tutorial! In my experience the adhesive qualities of superglue is not the best on these types of plastics or on metal. They are just too glossy/slick for a lasting bond. Use a glue for plastic instead (like the stuff they use for building models) it welds the material together. For gluing the hinges to the lid I would suggest roughing up both surfaces with sandpaper and or a small wire brush and use a dual compound plastic epoxy.

My MSI flew from a height of about 1.5 meters, dropped vertically from the refrigerator, the plastic cover was torn off, but the display was not damaged, the hinges continued to work. After that, it worked for 8 years, now it also works too, but the battery not work at all, and it is morally obsolete.

Finally i found this video, i have been looking for this kind of video coz i'm waiting for my laptop hinges broken so i can fix it by myself 😅

This video does of good of showing how to do the repair yourself. I would be tempted to use a heat gun or blow dryer on low to soften adhesive around the screen. I would also apply paper/cardboard to screen as i carefully remove bezel. MSI seems to offer a 3 year warranty on hinges that isn't really mentioned but many have received service with. Contact MSI support first. This is good for those not comfortable taking apart their laptop. I like the use of superglue and baking soda. CA Glue or cyanoacrylate adhesive would be nice but best not to test on laptop lol. Super glue is fast enough.

You can use a heat gun, but I wanted to avoid the risk of ruining the display. Alcohol is also dangerous to use, as it can ruin the backlight and leave stains on it.

@@Replapt The comment is a reminder for people comfortable with heat release double sided tape assembly to use masking as a backup. It is similar to the process of disassembly of smartphones where you heat the back and insert a plastic pick, even galaxy z flip with screen on the back. That is what the cardboard is for protect from heat and the effect of aiming at bezel and not heating screen much. It is smart you had patience and took your time to be sure you were safe. Again it is a very professional video. I think I'll sharing it to MSI laptops group. Most use epoxy for strength. The videos aren't as well produced either. I had thought of using 3 second glue with activator and baking soda, but plain super glue and baking soda that you chose is better as it is more tested.

It's fine having warranty and getting them to fix it but the process to send it to them is just tedious. And whole idea of a laptop is to travel. I'm never in one place long enough to have the time. Cheap quality over priced laptops

what kind of soda that you used, dude? if you glue up the latches, can we still open it when we will replace the screen? thx
@Replapt3 ай бұрын
baking soda, it all depends on how you glue and the laptop model

My hinges are fine but the backlid and bezel are broken (screen is fine). Do I just take off the backlid, unscrew the hinges and then place the screen on the new backlid and replace the bezel or do I still have to follow this process of taking off the cooling system?
@Replapt3 ай бұрын
not necessarily, the main thing is to disconnect the battery before any actions, for this you will have to remove the bottom cover
