MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER VENTUS 3X OC : Why would anyone buy this?

Spec wise, it might be limited by the 48MB cache? Anyway, I bought this card. All I've owned previously are budget cards (750 Ti, 1050 Ti.) Why did I jump now and choose this card - Wanted nvidia for its features. Wanted 16GB. Was concerned about melting connectors. So while I could have spent a little more for a 4080 Super, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with any extra power draw on the badly engineered 12VHPWR connection (I fear some 4080/Super will melt eventually.) I'll have a very strong card with 16GB for the future and for VR, and I get the warranty for a new card vs. something like a used 4080 which has no warranty. It's an imperfect middle ground. But being perhaps 7 times faster than my 1050 Ti, I think I'll be quite happy.

Totally get this perspective. I pulled the trigger because I trust MSi build integrity and got it at Best Buy for $780. Beat out the local microcenter. Upgrading from a GTX 1070 ROG Strix

I want to get a 4070 super. But the only reason I'm FORCED to buy a 4070ti super is because my workload needs more VRAM. Mostly 3d modelling work. All because Nvidia choked the 4070S with only 12GB VRAM.

Well, these clickbait titles are kinda off, it's almost like stating that there's a problem with the card, which it hasn't any and still a great GPU performance wise. Also, your scenario may not suit everyone, on my country for example, the situation is a little bit different, the 4070TIS is actually cheaper than the TI non-Super variant (as claimed by NVidia that has a MSRP lower for the Super variants, so the higher prices for them are literally just the resellers fault), and yet, it's 30% cheaper than the 4080S Ventus 3x, so it's definitely a good deal here. Also, in my specific case, the 4070TI Super Ventus *2x* is the highest performing card that I can get that still a dual fan design that'll fit my ITX build perfectly, so I'm going with it without any regrets.

The 4070ti super is great for machine learning. It’s the cheapest 16gb vram card you can buy with performance very similar to a 4080. For gaming I agree there’s no point.

@@Laurentschoice 4080m no the performance hit for mobile is too big. Here in Aus the 4080 super was 1799 the 4070 ti super 1299. The vram is the same the bandwidth is slower but it doesn’t affect already loaded models. Performance difference is about 5 to 6% on production boxes. We’d run Macs instead but MPS has all sorts of issues with flash attention and VRAM spikes. So quad 4070 ti super is near identical performance to 4080 at 27% price difference. The biggest issue is if you want any more than 24gb vram on NVIDIA you start paying 5x to 100x. Macs have them beat in this respect if only metal would fix its fp16 issues

U do have a good point... And I mentioned how smaller it was than a RTX 4080. It's actually something I wanted to mantion in the conclusions. To be faire the bandwidth is identical to the RTX 4080 , both in memory and and ROPs. That is why I am so surprised to not see a more powerful card. Based on the specs alone.. the RTX 4070ti should be outputing more , at least another full 5 percent. On the pricing, I would go for a 4080 Zotac which is sold at 959 USD. Or a 4080 super which goes for 999.

You just forgot that 4070TIS goes from $850 and it's performance is comparable to the 4080, but the 4080 goes from $1100+ ... the value per frame of the 4080 is way worse than the 4070TIS.
