Every one of these boards that I have seen review for trying to run the RAM at more than around 6000 crashes the system. Did you do any stress testing using 8000mhz? Also I have to say these board manufacturers that are putting out these LGA 1851 boards are doing a dismal job with the back IO and WTF is with this BS 2.5 and 5 LAN ports? No BIOS reset either and yet they want a premium for these boards! Since this is supposed to be the replacement for the LGA 1700 I find it absurd they have done such a shit job with the back IO!

I bought this board for all of the usb ports. My parts don't need high transfer rate, so 2.0 is more than enough.

Laurant - there is some misinformation in your test about this board regarding the S-ATA ports. Did you even test them? They DO NOT Support Raid modes - and they are connected to an ASMedia 1061 Controller - per 2 Connectors one AS1061. That means, that these ports only get you 400 MB/s Read/write on connected S-ATA SSDs as the ASMedia 1061 only runs at PCI-E 2.0 X1 and are therefore limited. You need to mention this as this limits the useability of those S_ATA Ports. Asus did cheap out here on the chipset for the SATA-Controller in order to implement a 4th M.2 slot. The board is a good one - but if you have S-ATA SSDs you want to use, avoid it.

Absolutely crap of a motherboard, cant handle 4k video. Don't load all the drivers on every boot ups, Always double boot ups. I brought this board from Novatech because they told me it was compatible for 4k dvds, they lied it dont.

I used to build PCs ALL the time, havent done much in the last 6 or so years, Ive done strictly MSI for any personal build for board and GPUs. currently building on now... what I am hating is the TOTAL lack of diagrams/instructions. I remember when board makers would have a white sheet diagram with EVERY pinout and header labeled. so I am hunting and hunting for pin outs to run the RGB (another first for me for addressable), also setting up 11 PWM fans, so hunting down all the proper fan pinouts. and their web site doesnt have this information either. so will be my last time purchasing through them. I like changes (upgrades), but it needs documentation.

AVOID My main issue currently with the board is getting "code 10" after a "cold start" (not using pc for longer time). I am not the only one who is having those issues from what I have read on the forums. Seriusly you pay premium for beeing a beta tester. A 650s dont have those kind of issues. AVOID

Looking to upgrade from my older Msi Gaming Edge AC board that’s paired with an i7-9700K from my first and only gaming PC, and moving onto the AM5 platform, and plan on staying with AMD until I have a good reason not too. A lot of people don’t like the lime green details.. but if you can ignore the color just for the duration of the video; this board seems absolutely amazing for the price point and has everything I’ll ever need for a long time. Because of this video, I’m picking this board when I start ordering my parts.. I have to ask though, does the BIOS have the setting where the CPU has a very very high power draw limit, beyond AMD’s limit, like the fiasco with the 13th and 14th gen Intel processors?

What I don't like about this is the battery situation which according to the manual is irreplaceable (I guess they mean without taking of the vrm heatsink). Since you took that off, did you see the battery? What's that oldschool cable doing there. Anyway, the M2 slots without compromise (lanesharing) are what brought my attention to this one.

I've had a great experience with this board. 14700k cpu and rtx 3080 ftw3 ultra. I do, however, RECOMMEND only running 2 sticks of 32gb ddr5 instead of 4x16 because you can overclock the 2x32 but not the 4x16 for some reason.

Just a quick note for anyone looking to maximize the USB4/M2_2 switch with a Samsung 990 EVO or EVO Plus, the only drives currently available that can work both in PCIE4x4 as well as PCIE5x2. By maximizing I mean having USB4 functional as well as use M2_2 at maximum bandwidth. As of BIOS version 7E51v1A1A, with the 990 EVO Plus in M2_2, setting the switch to AUTO will result in the USB4 being disabled and M2_2 set to PCIE4x4. It's not enough to set the split manually so that each get x2 lanes, doing so will result the Samsung drive working in PCIE4x2 with degraded performance. You have to both set the switch to give USB4 and M2_2 x2 lanes each AND set the M2_2 to be Gen 5 in the BIOS for this combo to work at maximum bandwidth for both peripherals. One other gripe that I have is that M2_3 only has two lanes, which it shares with the PCIE3 slot. The switch in the BIOS does not allow the PCIE3 slot to be disabled and direct all lanes to M2_3. You can however disable M2_3 and direct all 4 lanes to PCIE3. So if you want to use all 4 lanes available for a M2 drive, you'll have to do so using a M2/PCIE card in PCIE3. Despite these compromises, the Tomahawk is by far the most interesting current generation AM5 board in this price range and I'm glad that MSI decided to get back to innovating. Their previous offerings for X670/B650 felt lacking with below average VRMs and almost no USB4 offerings.
@CHAOSMOVEMENT13 күн бұрын
I think it's worth the $200 extra over the tomahawk. That said, I just want to be able to use PCIe_2 on a MB without spliting lanes with PCI_1. I have a professional audio card with a daughter card that has to be underneath it, meaning it can't be in the last slot, which would be fine as its PCIe 1X. Granted right now lane sharing doesn't matter, but maybe it will in the near future.
