Thousands of Filipinos in Hawaii have sacrificed to come so they can work and send back monetary support to their struggling families in the Philippines. My father came in 1931. My mother came in 1946. They labored so hard on the pineapple plantation so their families here and in the Philippines can do better. What a sacrifice! Now I'm doing the same and helping our poor relatives there.

I love this song very much because it gets me into the heart of every Filipino who left their own country, searching for a greener pasture for the love of their family and country. I felt also as my own, their owns pains and sacrifices they experienced of leaving their home and the various struggles and challenges, that they all experienced while working in foreign land. Likewise I pray and sympathize with them too, both their joys and sufferings they may encounter in the journey of life. Hope all Filipinos too who works abroad will always call on God for help and anchored their life to Him so that by Gods grace they will be strengthens all the more in facing various circumstances of life. For me, these Filipinos are the modern Philippine heroes, that deserves our appreciation and recognition in our own little way. Hope and pray that their hard works and sacrifices for years, God will reward it with good fruits in abundance. Also that their own family too will try to manage and take care very carefully whatever goods entrusted to them for their common good. Artist Lea, performed this song very well, with great feelings and emotions. It is very realistic, practical and natural approach. Every performance of Lea is always beautiful, outstanding performance and high quality content. I do not doubt at all because ... since childhood until now, she has been proven and tested for years of hard work and sacrifices in her talents and career, and not only that, winning an international musical competition is not that easy, but she make it with flying colors all the way through. Ms Lea Salonga is my all time favorite among Filipino artists, of which I highly look up to, not only because she is a world class high quality artists, but also her attitude of being a very positive and confident artist, tough and head up in facing every difficulty. This is the trademark and great legacy of Lea as an artist. I know that music industry is a promising career but at the same time, it is also very stressful and demanding. Thanks to Lea for her perseverance and patience in developing her career to the optimum level of what it is now. My gratitude also to her family who builds her up strongly and supported her all the way through of her life and career. Indeed, I would say, that The Philippines owed Lea greatly. I know Lea is such an amazing singer, the emotions in her voice is so overwhelming, it really made me cry how she sang the song. Watching this at my clinic and its only in the middle of the sone I realised i was crying. How i missed my parents at this time. This pandemic stops me from travelling back home to Manila. Hello. It's my first time to even think of this song this way now that I am abroad. 😂 As a child I thought this man will do anything to see his girlfriend. This is one of the songs I had been listening and singing along as I play 'piko' and 'tumba-lata' in front of our house.Anthony Castello's, Rico Puno's voices still stand out to me up to this day.
