I'm so glad you honoured Helzapoppin as the greatest dance scene in the history of the cinema. It is truly wonderful.
@jokervienna64332 ай бұрын
Totally agree. There are many great dance movies around, but Helzapoppin beats them all. No, it does NOT make me want to get up and dance, because I could never pull off those moves. I just stare in awe! :)

I met Jean Veloz (the woman in #20 and #5) and was even part of a group selfie with her in the elevator at Camp Hollywood, a yearly swing event in LA. She helped lead one of the workshops, and even at 94 she was mesmerizing to watch! Truly one of the greats, and an absolute legend in the swing dancing community!

Working the grief out through dancing. When I found myself in grief as a youngster, I danced my head off in clubs with friends. I didn’t dance during the week, so I took up running and ran marathons for 20 years of my life, up to age 50. Once menopause hit, I now dance in my home when feeling low or sad about something. Close the blinds, turn up the music and go crazy as best I can….It really does help 😂

A kindred spirit. My knees are too far gone to do much now, but can move from the hips up in a chair. And dance away in my head. I used music t9 get through the 3rd ye@r after my daughter death. She died in 2019. Grief really isn’t talked about much or normalized in any way. Much love from Allentown PA 💕🐝💕

I'm so glad Hellzapoppin' is listed as #1! I was going to be sad if it hadn't been. I got to take a couple of Lindy workshops from Frankie Manning who was in that scene. He was incredibly nice and super passionate about the dance, it's history, and teaching it to others. It's exciting to see the film get a little love.

It’s such a remarkable thing to see how well the older films shot the dance numbers vs. modern films. No fancy lighting effects, no constant editing cuts, just plant the camera and let the dancers do their thang!

Thank you soooo much for this! I was so blessed to have the greatest Lindy Hop partner in my life. I met and learned some from Frankie Manning. He said to us guys ... Hold our left arm out as we bow to our partner .. our Queen. If she takes our hand, always treat her as your Queen and enjoy your dances. I miss dancing and my swing partner.

As a former swing dancer. In a group. I loved to see this. The music that are most popular to go out at weekends- here in Norway, are the places where they play swing music. We even have a Scandinavian name on these kind of bands. " Danseband".

Wow, All Till favorite Ms Mojo!!! I competed in jitterbug for many of my youthful years. I watched several of these black-and-white movies on TCM and always wanted more. I was too young to pay attention to the titles and I’m so thankful you’ve listed these. Although I always competed in country and western nightclubs and dance halls, I am a huge Lindy fan. And thanks to you. I know the name “Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers.❤ kids these days don’t know what they’re missing out on.

I don't care what anyone says, 1941 is a very good movie. The reason why it received bad reviews is because people thought John Belushi had a much bigger role versus the few scenes that he had. Every scene with slim Pickens in the Japanese submarine were hilarious.

My parents danced in jitterbug concerts! They met at a USO dance at the end of WW2. He was handsome in his uniform with his dark curly hair & blue eyes, my mom beautiful with thick brown hair, big brown eyes, full luscious lips & gorgeous smile. He said she was only 100 lbs and he could toss her easier than his military duffle bag!😊🇺🇸💖

@Loulizabeth2 ай бұрын
While I absolutely love that dance sequence and agree that the pairing of Eleanor Powell and me Fred Astaire was first class, the problem is it's not true swing dancing as shown in this list. Really, really hope Ms Mojo do more lists that show amazing movies from the past both black and white and colour. Including highlighting three amazing different types and styles of dance that were around. Hey they could even do videos highlighting the silent movies and some of their greatest stars and the stunts they did all without the health and safety rules of today. Which makes them twice, if not three times more terrifying.

Oh and the movie "Blast From The Past" with Brendan Frasier, is one of my FAVORITE movies!!! 🌟 💕

Lo que más me impresiona del swing es lo acrobático que es, aparte de la velocidad con la que se baila, las acrobacias son espectaculares, no como ahora que solo mueven la parte de atrás y ya se creen bailarines Saludos desde Cantabria, España

@craftyoldbroadsgmail2 ай бұрын
Because there was o swing dancing in that movie
@Loulizabeth2 ай бұрын
Because it's not swing dancing. This is not a video about best dance movie. It's about the specific dance style "Swing". Just as the Footloose movie wouldn't be included in a list of movies about tap dancing or Waltzing, American Smooth or ballet. They need to do a film about 80's dance styles for that film to be included in.
