You guys really missed the mark on this one. Eddie’s wife dying, Buck telling Christopher that Eddie was shot, Maddie killing her ex-husband, Athena’s fiancee dying, Buck digging with his hands when he thinks Eddie is dead, Exdie getting shot are just some of the more impactful scenes. Showing the tsunami episode and not showing the 2 key scenes of that episode is also a crime: Buck trying to tell Eddie that he lost Christopher and Eddie telling Buck that there is no one else he trusts with his son more than Buck.

three major things missing on this list - #1 just mark down the whole Athena begins episode, that absolutely wrecked me! #2 the woman who was "dead" when they arrived at the hospital after giving birth to her daughter, but when the father placed the baby on her chest, to say goodbye, her heart started beating again and Hen broke down! #3 May attempts suicide.

Ok I was an idiot for thinking I could get through this without crying. Also, Shannon’s death should’ve been on this list, at least as an honorable mention. While I agree with everything on the list (though I feel like the order was questionable), there were some scenes that really also should have been touched on, even if it was just in the honorable mentions. Athena Begins, Eddie getting shot and Buck breaking down telling Christopher, everything to do with Buck's past, and even several points from Season 5 (which I won't say because there are people who have not yet been able to watch it yet). And that's just the tip of the emotional iceberg. It's a good list, but maybe should have a part two.

The last one made me remember the saddest vocal concert of my life. Our "Music Down in My Soul" concert was dedicated entirely to gospel and soul music. It would normally be a very upbeat and lively concert, and was always my favorite every year. But one year, one song would never be sung again quite the same. A senior girl had been driving home from school when her car got hit in an intersection by a drunk driver. She had just gotten accepted into her first choice college, and had a whole life ahead of her. When we got to the song, our choir director stepped up and gave a speech about her, saying that she had gotten a solo in the song. She had been extatic to get the solo, as if was her favorite song, so now they were now dedicating it to her. It was a foot-tapping kind of happy song. So when we sang it, we all had smiles on our faces. But that day, there wasn't a single dry eye in the choir. The grief was palpable even through the upbeat tune. At the end of the song, a girl two rows down from me let out a wail and sunk to the ground, inconsolable. She was one of the girl's friends. There was a small break, and the audience remained seated while the choir got down from the risers. I remember searching for my best friend over in the descending tenor section and ran and hugged him. There were friends hugging one another all over the stage. The vast majority of us hadn't even known this girl and yet her loss was unbearable to all of us in the moment. The director told us later that he had considered leaving her solo entirely silent, with no one filling in to sing for her. It would have been nice, but it was already sad enough for all of us just to sing through it. The girl who filled in for her, I heard her voice break over the mic.

The saddest episode of 911 when Christopher lost his mom, it was a really emotional episode because she wrote him a letter of one last time of how much she loved him, and he wants her to forgive her. I don't see anyone has mentioned this so I will: When Chimney was stabbed and is watching his life on repeat. We see Chimney's origin and there's a moment where he's in a hospital waiting to hear about a colleague that he saved. While he's waiting in that chair he slowly seems to snap back into reality for a while. He senses pain where he was stabbed, blood suddenly appearing on his body and blood dripping from his face. His terrified and disoriented look from what is happening in that moment is so sad. He senses that something is wrong. He has a hunch that he's not really in that hospital and that where he is isn't real. But then he gets interrupted by an old friend and he slips back into continuing to watch his life on repeat.

I think an honorable mention should be the season 2 episode “Bobby Begins Again”, where they show more of his backstory and how he became the new captain of the 118. When they show his dead kids, and then his wife dying in the hospital shortly after… God it’s so hard to watch.

For me the most heartbreaking moments are: -Christopher is found after the tsunami (I cry every time) -Buck tells Christopher that Eddie gets shot, cry and Christopher comforting him (I'm crying more on that) -Buck found Maddie after she escaped from Doug

It's 40% heartbreaking and 60% infuriating, but my list includes everytime we see Maddie bruised and beaten. No one deserves that.

For me the first season every episode was emotional! When Fox cancel the series I was emotional. Imagine my joy to find out ABC picked it up

I feel this recent moment that feels like a number 3 is when an old lady had gotten a head injury a week earlier and she didn’t get treated so the impact that it gave her is she couldn’t recognize anyone she knew and one day her son came over but since she couldn’t recognize him she called 911 saying there was an intruder and she said she has a gun a shoots who she thought was an intruder but was actually her son and the 911 operators find out that she has a brain injury, so after her surgery Athena comes in and tells her that the person she thought was an intruder was actually her son and just hearing her crying and yelling “I didn’t mean to” is just heartbreaking.

This can easily be multiple top tens because there are so many emotional scenes. They really could do the same for 9-1-1 Lone Star as well.

My favorite show!! So many times I am left in tears. And your number 1 pick: yes absolutely. Just rewatching it brought up those emotions again…i will say you guys missed one… think it’s in kids today(season 3 opener)but it may be another episode…regardless…an older woman is dying of cancer and she takes some pills to “speed things up.” She calls 911 so they will be there with her daughter when she goes. The song landslide by Fleetwood Mac is playing, the woman is remembering all these things with her mother and the woman quietly slips away. It’s an emotional scene…it hits me hard every time I watch it. Even more so than the motorcycle guy…

Escalator lady was a good actress for that. I couldn't imagine being that close to happiness only to have it literally ripped away. That and the crying... just waves of agony.

The use of the music from the movie Arrival, just that scene of Hen hitting the Cellist hammers me in feels. No wonder it was number one. 😭😭😭

Maddie killing her ex husband 😭 she was amazing in that scene! Her crying while she is blindly stabbing him..just the whole scene from her running out of the cabin to when Buck finds her. SO good!
