I remember last week when the video on Sam's worst moments was released, and it was heartbreaking to watch them vilify such an amazing character. It was actually really comforting to read through the comments and see people defend Sam and a lot of them also demanded that the video would be met with a best Sam moments. I am so glad the video was actually made because he is a great character and of course he makes mistakes but he also did so many amazing things.

It's funny how they didn't make a video of Dean's worst moments. Y'know, when he hits his brother, or Cas, oftentimes because of his own emotions (cuz that's not abuse at all, sCOFF). Or when he emotionally abuses a few months old "new born" and pushes said "new born" to try and commit suicide (when Jack stabbed himself) or to hate himself while also being afraid of Dean (yknow, when a literal therapist calls out Dean on his treatment of Jack and how Jack feels about Dean??). Or y'know, all the times where Dean kept reminding to Sam or Castiel their mistakes, guilt-tripping them to suicide (or almost: Sam at the end of s8 and Castiel... well... several times). I just love how people remember only *some* characters' bad choices and/or actions.

How can you not have "I believe in us" here from 14x12? I think it's one of the best acted scenes of Jared even he tells otherwise. It is a very important scene where Sam is a precious optimist even in the worst of times and that he believes with Dean there is nothing they can't do. It's the essence of the show.

It makes me emotional every single time whenI watch it. When first seasons are compared with later ones their acting developed so much. I am so damn proud of them. I love Jensen and his acting but Jared had given wider range to perform and he pulled them of all awesomely

Sammy is supposed to be the smart and sensitive one, so it broke our hearts when he didn't listen to his brother, or what should have been better instincts, when it came to following Ruby's terrible advice. So much pain can be avoided when the brothers just listen to one another and this was one of several instances where Sam was not the voice of reason.

That's the problem tho. Sam is usually the voice of reason/compassion (meaning he's willing to give people who might not deserve it a chance, like Amy and Jack) while Dean is sometimes (ok, often) driven by his black and white interpretation of good and evil. And that's a big part of the reason he didn't listen to Dean and gave Ruby and undeserved chance

Sam was vulnerable after losing Dean , he had a death wish not wanting to live without Dean , I believe Lilith sent Ruby back to suduce him and to make sure he lived so he could resurrect Lucifer and become his vessel

Um....Sam was broken. And twisted. Dean was dying, going to hell, for him, and not doing a thing to save himself. Sam spends all season three spiraling, and Dean does not (and cannot) save him. Because it’s Dean’s fault, and Dean can’t face how much he’s torn Sam apart. Ruby steps in to those cracks. That brokenness. Offers a life raft, when Dean leaves him drowning. And, when Dean dies, Ruby is the only thing that holds Sam together. He would have gotten himself killed, and Dean would have come back to nothing (assuming Castiel brought him back at all) if not for her. Dean (and the fandom) give Sam so much crap for Ruby, without ever acknowledging that Sam ONLY lets her in because she promises to help him save Dean. And that he only loses himself to her, because he loses Dean. Hell, it’s Dean calling him a monster and telling him that if he walks out that door, he better never come back (shades of John Winchester, anyone?) that finally sends Sam to Ruby completely, and leads to him killing Lilith and breaking the final seal. Sam is a big boy. He’s responsible for his own choices. But Dean is every bit as much at fault for what went down. For allowing Ruby the opening(s) she needed, to get between them. Yet Sam is the one who ends up with all the blame, and who must take all the punishment for it.

A few that are missing: Sam possessed by Meg...his acting was just brilliant throughout. Sam putting down the alpha vamp. And one of his funnier moments is in season 7 when Dean is researching Dick Roman a lot and Sam says something like, "so are you strictly into Dick now?" Lmao...it's a great line and classic delivery. Love me some Sammy.

I'm watching this both teary-eyed and with a huge grin on my face. On season 12's "Who We Are" Sam really stepped up to the plate and proven himself yet again as a real leader. He kick some serious ass in that episode! Sam is my favorite character whom although flawed, he has and Incredibly huge and selfless heart. Your picks are good but I think you left out 2 of my favorite Sam moments one that always brings me to tears the end of Brothers Keeper when Sam basically agrees to let Dean end his life is a huge Sam moment for me and two in Stranger in a strange Land episode 1 of season 14 when the demon Kipling declares he will be the new King of hell and Sam shuts that shit right down killing Kipling and making it perfectly clear there will be no King of hell and anyone who tries will have to go threw him!!! Not sure if anyone said this yet, but just to clarify Sam losing his shoe - he didn’t get it stuck in the broken grate. He got gum on the bottom of the shoe and was using the broken grate to try and scrape it off when the shoe came off completely. I enjoyed the list. Thanks.

In the commentary for The End, Jensen talks about how frustrating the episode was because leading up to it, Jared had a week's vacation or so, so he was chilling in Hawaii (presumably with Gen) meanwhile it was fall in Vancouver so rainy season and Jensen was doing double duty...the exhaustion was real

Well that’s normal. I could make a worst of dean and best of dean playlist. Same for Cas, Charlie, anyone. Every character has moments where you hate what they’re doing and moments where you love what they’re doing. Like I personally will never ever forgive dean for holding kaia, a scared Child, at gunpoint and forcing her into his car to force her to try and save his mom. Even though the girl had just said how scared she was and how she gets hurt when dream walking. But there are also scenes in seasons prior to that, where I worship dean. So it can go either way

I agree. I don’t hate Dean, but I sure don’t get people’s Rose-tinted glasses about him. He’s easily done equally awful things as Sam and Cas and he’s always much nastier and dismissive.
