I don’t know if this is true for masked singer here, but in South Korea, some contestants (think all of them are celebrities) actually bring their own mask, whether they make it on their own or get help from someone they know

In the U.S. version of the show, all of the costumes (with a possible exception) are designed by Masked Singer-hired creators, several of whom have won awards in their fields for great character design and such as a result of the show.
