I see this as THE defining difference between the good and the evil sides of politics. One group wants to follow the law, the other wants to ignore the law and create new rules in conflict with the existing ones. I am happy to have a discussion with someone about the merits of a modification to the standing second ammendment. That's never the debate. They want to ignore it and implement laws in direct conflict with the highest law of the land. One is a legitimate exercise of citizenship, the other is rebellion against the nation and abuse of its citizens.

And a short time later a Remington 552 bdl Speedmaster.was added to the safe. Funny story with this rifle, my dad and I went to a gun show close to Christmas. After bringing my new to me rifle home, Dad made me wrap it and put it under the tree. When visiting my grandpa on my dad's side, there was a rifle by the back door and a loaded 22 pistol in the kitchen drawer. My grandpa on my mom's side kept his guns in his office in a traditional glass gun case. Safe storage isn't the root of the problem.

In high school in SW Georgia young men had rifles on racks in their trucks with the windows down so the interior didn’t get too hot. Nobody touched their rifles or ever thought about it because they were someone else’s property. We were taught that firearms were not for settling disputes. They were not locked because people were more honest. The blame really is a lack of discipline and parental guidance through religious teaching and stressing to be considerate of others. Kids do not have fully developed brains in middle or high school, but to consider killing other human beings as a solution to adolescent problems is on the parents and our sick society.
