I think Mooch is right. We see it all the time in politics that the challenging candidate tries to attribute the state of affairs to the incumbent's actions or inactions. Like trying to say that inflation is Biden's fault - it's just not entirely true. Certainly there is a degree of responsibility, but you really can't pin situational outcomes on the individual. To try to do so will fool some of the people some of the time, but you have to calculate if it fools enough of the people at exactly the right time. That's a political strategic calculation.

The difference however is that President Biden is not denying inflation and or making a mockery of it and how it is negatively effecting Americans.
